  I have been living for about 30 years in a beautiful place called La Serra where I try to create the ideal conditions for a person to feel in an environment close to nature, freedom, and the awareness of living on their own resources. In this place a bit out of this world, on the edge of the Monte Rufoli reserve, I have various projects in constant evolution that bring me personal satisfaction.
  
  These non-economic personal projects range from taking care of the vegetable garden, developing the land around the house, and taking care of the cats and 4 shepherd dogs called Giorgio, Zampa, and the two puppies. I have ongoing experiments on improving soil fertility in a natural way, preserving it from erosion, retaining and regulating surface water, as well as my passion for building dry stone walls with small and large stones. My job, on the other hand, is to take care of 86 sheep every day.

  Vivo da circa 30 anni in un bel posto chiamato La Serra dove cerco di creare le condizioni ideali affinché una persona si senta in un ambiente vicino alla natura, alla libertà, e alla consapevolezza di vivere delle proprie risorse.
  
  In questo posto un po fuori dal mondo, al confine della riserva di Monte Rufoli, c'ho vari progetti in continua evoluzione che mi portano soddisfazione personale. Questi progetti personali non economici vanno dall'occuparsi dell'orto, allo sviluppo del terreno intorno alla casa, e alla cura dei gatti e dei 4 cani pastori chiamati Giorgio, Zampa, e i due cuccioloni. C'ho in corso dei esperimenti sul miglioramento della fertilità dei terreni in modo naturale, la preservazione dall'erosione, il trattenimento e la regimazione delle acque superficiali, oltre alla mia passione per costruire muri a secco con sassi di piccole e grandi dimensioni.
  
  Il mio lavoro invece è di quotidianamente prendermi cura di 86 pecore per venderne il latte. I volontari non saranno coinvolti in questa attività ma se nel futuro decido di ampliare la mia attività, sarei felice di considerare una collaborazione remunerata.

  Workawaywers will be able to learn everything I know, having different work experiences ranging from construction to agriculture, mechanics, work in the woods, making pizzas and eventually slaughtering lambs

  I volontari potranno imparare tutto quello che so, avendo differenti esperienze di lavoro che vanno dall'edilizia all'agricoltura, alla meccanica, lavoro nel bosco, fare le pizze e eventualmente la macellazione degli agnelli

  I would be happy if the help is to share the small daily activities such as tending the garden, developing the land around the house, taking care of the dogs and cats, perhaps chopping wood, and other farm chores. I'd also be happy to possibly show you how to build dry stone walls, go mushroom (and herb) picking and make your own cheese!
  
  
  Sarei felice che l'aiuto sia condividere le piccole attività quotidiane come curare l'orto, sviluppare il terreno intorno alla casa, occuparsi dei cani e dei gatti, magari tagliare la legna, e altri lavoretti da fattoria. Sarei anche felice di eventualmente mostrare come costruire muri a secco, andare a raccogliere funghi (e erbe) e fare del formaggio per uso personale !

  On the border with the land there is the Monte Rufoli reserve where you can go for splendid walks, trekking, picking mushrooms and berries and wild herbs, forest bathing, mountain biking, etc. Nearby there is a hot thermal spring in the woods (free) The village of Serrazzano is 2-3 km away and there is a pizzeria and two bars. Volterra, Florence and Siena are within an hour and a half by car. The sea at 40 minutes!
  
  Al confine col terreno c'è la riserva di Monte Rufoli dove si può fare splendide camminate, trekking, raccolta di funghi e bacche e erbe spontanee, forest bathing, mountainbike, etc.
  Nelle vicinanze c'è una sorgente di acqua calda termale nel bosco (gratuita)
  Il paesino di Serrazzano si trova 2-3 km e c'è una pizzeria e due bar.
  Volterra, Firenze e Siena si trovano ad un ora e mezza di macchina.
  Il mare a 40 minuti !
