We are a Newari family living in Bhaktapur,Nepal. For many years we have welcomed travelers and volunteers into our family home. What started as a simple wish to meet people from different countries has grown into lasting friendships and meaningful cultural exchanges. Many former guests still keep in touch with us and some even return to visit after many years.
This is our family home where we live together every day. Volunteers stay with us as part of normal family life. We share meals, tea, conversations, local festivals and everyday experiences.Life here is sometimes busy, sometimes quiet but always authentic.
We work closely with local government schools and a school for children with disabilities in our community.Volunteers can help in different ways depending on their interests, including English practice, creative activities, educational support and spending time with children.Even small contributions can have a positive impact.
We started hosting simply because we were curious about the world and wanted to meet people from different countries.Over the years many volunteers have become friends and some have even returned to visit us again. Most cultural exchange happens naturally through daily life shared meals, conversations and community activities.

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
Cultural exchange here is quite simple.
People from different places come and live together for a while and we just share everyday life without making it complicated.A lot of learning happens in small moments cooking together, sharing stories or sitting and talking after a long day.
When volunteers leave with meaningful memories,we hope they don’t just remember the task or the place but also the small connections, conversations cultural understanding gained during their stay.

Algo más...
Bhaktapur is a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its Newari culture, old traditional buildings and everyday local life that still feels very real and lived in.From our Home.it’s an easy walk to Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Taumadhi Square including the Nyatapola Temple. Most people just walk around these areas because everything is close and the small streets, shops and open squares make the walk itself enjoyable.
For longer trips
There are regular buses from the main Bhaktapur bus terminal going to Kathmandu and Lalitpur (Patan). These are what locals use every day.So you usually don’t have to wait too long.
If you want something faster or more comfortable apps like Pathao and in Drive also work well around Bhaktapur for short rides.
If you’re thinking of going a bit outside the city Nagarkot and Changunarayan Temple are both nearby and easy for a half day or full day trip.It usually takes around 30–40 minutes depending on traffic whether you go by local transport or private ride.
