I live in a 200 year old traditional Japanese house nestled in the peaceful countryside of Daigo, Japan. Surrounded by lush nature, this home is an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, offering a taste of authentic Japanese rural living. The house combines traditional architecture and historical charm with modern comforts, making it welcoming for workawayers looking for a unique cultural experience. Here, you can experience the rhythm of rural Japan, with nearby hiking trails, beautiful landscapes, and a close-knit local community. My hope is to share this special place with people who are open to connecting with nature, exploring Japanese traditions, and enjoying a slower pace of life. You can help me with daily tasks, general diy, renovating the house and maintain the large traditional garden. My hope is that my home will offer a memorable stay in the heart of Japan’s countryside.

My place offers a unique cultural exchange rooted in the beauty of traditional Japanese life. Having lived in both Europe and Japan, I bring a broad perspective and can share insights into Japanese customs, lifestyle, and the nuances of adapting between cultures. Our home is steeped in history, and I’m excited to show you its traditional architecture and introduce you to various forms of Japanese artwork. You’ll have the chance to experience authentic Japanese living in rural areas of Japan.

The accommodation where you will stay is a separate building to the main house, and it is also a very old Japanese traditional style guest house, full of character.
You will have your own separate sleeping area. The living area, small kitchen, and bathroom are shared with one or two workawayers, allowing you your own space and convenience.
You will sleep in a tatami room, experiencing Japanese-style comfort, with a cozy kotatsu (heated table) to keep warm during cold days.
As it is a traditionally constructed wooden house, please be aware that it can become quite cold in the winter, but there is a kerosene heater and lots of blankets.
Please try to keep it clean as much as possible. You can freely use the laundry machine and vacuum cleaner as needed.
** In principle please purchase your own food and prepare your own breakfast.
As it is a remote location, I will drive you to the nearest supermarket for grocery shopping.
We can have lunch together if convenient, however depending on my work schedule, please also prepare your own lunch when necessary.
I would like to have dinner together as much as possible so we can enjoy each other's company.
** For vegetarians, vegans or those with specific dietary requirements. please prepare all your own meals, since I have limited knowledge on those needs.
On occasion I can provide locally sourced vegetables.
Free to use Bicycle to explore the immediate area.Un poco más de información
