Hello!
Please take a moment to read through our full profile and follow the instructions on what your first message should include. This helps us know you’ve read carefully, can follow directions, and saves us valuable time.
We’re a small, family-run, grassroots nonprofit farm animal sanctuary on a 10-acre organic farm in rural South Georgia, right along the FL/GA line and just 30 minutes from Tallahassee, FL. Our sanctuary is filled with beautiful sunsets and an incredible view of the stars. It’s run by me, Skye—Founder & Director—with the assistance of my daughter, Summer. We’re nestled in a modest home on 10 acres of farmland that connect to another 90 acres of mostly wooded family land, complete with hiking trails, our family’s screen-printing business, and the homes of our extended family.
My parents, and also my son and his girlfriend, who's also a longtime volunteer, live on the adjoining property. While they’re mostly busy with school and work these days, they’re still connected to the sanctuary and help when they can. The sanctuary is home to over 100 resident animals, each with their own unique personality, and most are friendly and social. We’re a place rooted in kindness, creativity, and positive energy, and we welcome people who are open-minded, hardworking, and excited to be part of something magical.
I consider myself to be kind, honest, frugal, and laid back. While the sanctuary may not be fancy, we are proud of all we're accomplishing here and will do our best to make sure your time with us is filled with meaningful experiences both at the sanctuary and in our local area. We also believe in balance, valuing both hard work and moments of fun, even though I can’t remember the last time I took a break from the sanctuary myself.
My hobbies these days are all about bettering the sanctuary and our home—crafting, gardening, landscaping, photography, decorating and DIY and of course spending time with the animals. I rarely leave, except to head next door to the family business, take animals to the vet, run sanctuary errands, or occasionally visit a thrift store. Summer’s a bit more on the go, running errands, thrifting, spending time with friends, and pet-sitting in nearby towns.
If you’re ready to lend a hand, connect with animals and experience the magic of sanctuary life, please reach out!Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

We are a small, family-run vegan farm animal sanctuary that constantly needs help around the farm and garden. Most of the tasks are outdoors, but there are also some indoor opportunities.
We offer a variety of activities for helpers to get involved in, a wealth of knowledge to share, friendships to build, and opportunities for personal growth. Here are some of the daily routines and projects where assistance is needed. Helpers may assist with the following tasks, though daily priorities can shift based on need:
**Daily Routines & Project Tasks**
- Organizing the barn
- General land upkeep: mulching/composting, mowing, weed whacking, pulling weeds
- Mending fences
- Cleaning animal enclosures
- Caring for pigs, goats, donkeys, chickens, peafowl, turkey, dogs, cats, fish, Sheldon the aquatic turtle, and Jordy, our 100-pound tortoise
- Planting and caring for flowers, herbs, and garden vegetables
- Watering the garden and fruit trees during dry periods
- Pruning trees and bushes
- Assisting with building projects, such as painting the barn exterior or building fences and coops
- Assisting with sanctuary events
- Cooking/baking
- Watering house plants
- Cleaning and organizing inside the home
- Organizing and filing sanctuary paperwork
The day’s activities are guided by priority and need, so a typical day may include a few of these tasks or several, depending on current conditions. The expected schedule is 5 hours of help per day for five days, with two days off per week. Scheduling is flexible.
We welcome all interested helpers who want to learn, grow, and make a difference for the sanctuary and our animal residents.Idiomas

We offer comfortable accommodations for helpers, including a guest room inside our home or a full-sized couch bed in the volunteer barn area. The barn also has a kitchenette with a fridge, sink, toaster, microwave, and air fryer. For bathing, we have a heated outdoor shower, and although an outdoor bathroom is in the works, guests currently use our bathroom in the house, along with access to our full kitchen.
Our sanctuary is equipped with high-speed fiber internet, so feel free to bring your electronics. We also have books and DVDs you’re welcome to enjoy.
On cooler evenings, unwind by a campfire or relax in the hammock area. As a vegan sanctuary, you're welcome to join us for meals or prepare your own. If you enjoy cooking, we’d love for you to share your creations with us.
While there’s no public transportation in our rural area, we make weekly trips to town and can also arrange pickup from the airport or bus station in Tallahasee. For laundry, we have both a washing machine and dryer, as well as a clothesline. Linens and towels can be provided.
We look forward to welcoming you to our little slice of heaven.Algo más...
**Qualifications:**
We are looking for reliable, trustworthy, self-motivated, and compassionate individuals with a passion for animals and nature. Organizational and carpentry skills are a plus, as are any prior experiences in animal care or gardening. We welcome those who are genuinely interested in animal care and compassionate, sustainable living. Must be able to lift 50 lb feed bags. Must have medical insurance and be able to provide proof upon arrival. We value people who enjoy researching, thinking outside the box, and communicating—qualities that are essential for improving the sanctuary through teamwork, patience, and creativity. A love of animals, nature, and a willingness to embrace rustic living are very important.
**What to Expect:**
FPAS is not a typical animal rescue nor a traditional American farm. Our primary focus is the safety, happiness, and well-being of the animals who call our sanctuary home. They are here with us, not for us, and we are here to care for them. We don’t engage in farming for production or sell animal byproducts, and we are a vegan sanctuary, so we don’t allow meat or dairy products on the property.
While we aren’t off-grid, we are deeply committed to eco-friendly practices and are always working towards improvement. We consider our animal residents family and treat them as such. We do not breed or sell animals and adoptions are rare. Instead, our sanctuary is a permanent, loving refuge where animals can live their lives freely.
Our community volunteers typically visit once a week, during which we usually work on group projects. This provides a great opportunity to meet others in the area, build team-working skills, and learn from shared experiences.
Sanctuary life requires a special strength of character; it’s not for the faint of heart but for those who genuinely embrace the responsibilities that come with caring for our animal residents. It is incredibly rewarding and fulfilling work.
Open communication is key to a successful experience, so please feel free to ask questions. We look forward to meeting and working with you in this unique and fulfilling role.
