Would you like to experience living in the middle of nature? Are you interested in regenerative living, permaculture, natural building, reforesting and self-sustainability? We are offering a safe and loving environment for you to come and help us.
We are Marcel and Anna, both from the Netherlands. We have been traveling a lot via WorkAway ourselves, found each other on one of the projects and decided to start our own project in La Fresneda, Aragón, Spain.
We would love to welcome you and invite you to become a part of this. Before reaching out, please take the time to read the information provided below to get a clear idea of what we are offering. Please do not reach out before you've read the whole profile... we will know ;)

The goal of our project is to offer a platform where people can learn and grow on a personal and spiritual level. For us, this means providing a loving, caring and safe environment in the middle of nature, away from everyday distractions, so you can get in touch with yourself, the people and nature around you.
We also provide the possibility to learn more about permaculture, gardening, food preservation, sustainable and re-generative living, water capture and retainment, building a food forest, natural building, etc.
Beside all of this there are a lot of places that you can visit in your free time, such as the beautiful medieval village of la Fresneda, the capital of the Matarraña, Valderrobres, and the natural park around Beceite with hiking trails and swimming spots.

Life here comes with a lot of freedom and space to be yourself, with a natural focus on personal growth. But even though it sometimes feels like a retreat, it’s not a holiday. We grow this place together, little by little, and we ask everyone who joins us to contribute with that same intention.
At the end of March we begin something truly exciting: the renovation and rebuilding of our cave house.
If you’re curious about working with natural stone, learning how renovation works, or discovering what it takes to build or restore a cave home, this is a beautiful opportunity. Experience is welcome but not required. What matters most is that you show up with a hands-on mentality and a positive attitude.

Alojamiento
SLEEPING
At the moment we provide a luxurious tent which is equipped with comfortable mattresses. There is space to join with a partner or a friend. It might also be that you need to share the tent with another volunteer.
You're also welcome to join us with your own campervan.
SHOWER
At the moment, we have an outdoor shower with warm water. We also have a pool and at just 20 minutes walking you can swim in the nearby river.
Important: only 100% natural shower products can be used since the water is being reused on the land. We will provide natural soap an shampoo. If you wish to bring your own products, make sure they're 100% natural and degradable.
TOILET
We have a compost toilet like you've never seen before. It is nice, clean and comfortable. Completely different than a lot of people expect from a compost toilet.
FOOD
We have an outdoor kitchen where we eat our meals. Lunch and dinner is often together, breakfast you'll need to make on your own. We might ask you to join us on rotation in regards of cooking. We will buy food on the (super)market every week if it is not coming from the garden. You can join us to the (super)market in Valderrobres whenever we go.
CONNECTIVITY
Although we encourage spending time offline as much as possible, there is excellent mobile phone coverage on the land. We also have a fast and stable satellite internet connection available.

Before you reach out, we'd like to leave you with a couple of important notes.
NO SMOKING / NO DRINKING
Since the project has a goal towards personal and spiritual development, we make an effort on having a healthy body and mind. Smoking and drinking do not fit in this environment. This is also to minimise the risk of bushfires.
REMOTENESS
The project is located in a rural area. This means that it is quite remote and we do not get off the property very often. You can obviously take nice walks and we may take you to see some places occasionally, but if you'd like to do more sightseeing we recommend you to come with your own transport.
Upon your arrival, if you don’t have your own transport, we will be happy to come pick you up in Valderrobres to where you can take a bus from the airport of Barcelona. From Valencia or Reus you can go by train to Tortosa and take the bus from there.
WORKING HOURS
Workaway insists on having the max amount of hours and max days mentioned specifically (15 hours total divided over 5 days). In reality we are very flexible in regards of 'working' hours. Both in the amount of hours and when you spend them. This shouldn't be feeling like work. We do ask for commitment in helping to improve this project.
FOOD
Since we are not yet financially stable and need all the help we can get to keep this project running. We work donation based and believe €3 per meal per person is reasonable. Please take this into consideration when you apply.

This is not a place to replace your office desk; however, we do understand that life is not free and money needs to be earned. Therefore, we have the possibility to do some online work as we provide fast internet (free of charge) and a good mobile signal (4G). We ask about 3 hours a day from you and we are very flexible in when and how you spend those hours, so you should be able to combine this with remote work. Please be conscious though, let this be a place that stimulates self-development, and where we can enjoy the silence of nature and learn from being here together.
