    Hello! Bonjour! Hola! Bonjou!

My name is Tania 🤗 44 yrs lived, I am a midwife by trade/vocation and mother to an awesome human being of 10 (soon to be 11) yrs old of age. Of mixed origins, I’ve been blessed with a life rich in travel and am Canadian by passport loaded in stamps. After 10+ yrs of living in Montreal as an undergrad then healthcare professional, life brought me to Haiti where I rooted down and had my son Civil. Homeschooling full time, I used to work remotely as a maternal/infant health consultant in my spare time. My son and I relocated to Canada a year ago and settled down in Montreal a couple of months ago where life has been super sweet and rich in experiences and connections. We're here in transition but comfortably settled in an urban life we absolutely love. We're intentionally unschooling meaning kiddo is free as a bird to discover his likes and dislikes and experience life and grow. We plan our weeks around my work schedule, his choice of activities and new adventures.

I'm hoping to connect with a fellow human willing to "play the role" of responsible adult/companion to take over when I have to work and be away for births. My schedule is eclectic and our lives not routine. For this reason, you must be open to a funky schedule where I can be full-time available days at a time and absent but reachable for stints while I'm at work. Civil has regular weekly activities he attends though, and I would hope for you to enjoy accompanying him when I am not available. I love to cook (aspiring vegetarian bit kiddo is a definite carnivore) and tend to the house (i find great joy in doing dishes while listening to alternative media’s take on world news) and would appreciate you helping out as needed to keep the space livable/functional. Anything I can facilitate financially I will: museum outings, theater, movies, events...so you both can trip out on new experiences when I can't be there.

We speak a blend of French, Haitian creole and English and love to share language skills. Civil is also a great teacher and will be a trustworthy guide if you are desiring navigating the city but lack the French fluency. I'm fluent in Spanish and he's eager to learn as we plan to travel to South America sometime in 2024 so native Spanish speakers are super welcome. About us: we love music... there's always something playing in the background, whether it be a podcast, reggaeton, classic hip hop, jazz, cheesy happy pop, all the way to healing frequency beats, we're surrounded by music which sets our life beat/mood. He's learning the drums, I used to play classical guitar. We have a piano, ukuleles, we collaborate on crafting projects, and he's growing obsessed with drawing/digital animation. Aspiring skateboarder, amateur break dancer, improv theater, keen swimmer, circus school student, Civil is a thriving, lively, mature for his age, extremely funny, compassionate, loud, and adaptable, brutally honest being that gets along with kids of all ages and adults easily, gets vibes and energies intuitively and loves to get up in everyone's business.

Any passion/skill/obsession you wish to share, we're open. This isn't a babysitting gig, we wholeheartedly look forward to sharing space and time with you as you fall in love with this city and enjoy all it has to offer. If you're excited about snow and love winter activities, huge huge bonus. We have access to a courtyard and great neighbors and their kids so our space often hosts a couple of free schooled kids and outings might involve more than one child. I'll for sure be taking care of funding and facilitating group outings if you're keen to take on the facilitator role.

Thank you for reading all the way through 😉and truly look forward to connecting with you in this awesome community 🤗.
    Namaste

Montreal is an amazing city to explore. You can immerse in French, and enjoy the perks of multicultural living in a multilingual household in the heart of downtown. You'll have plenty of time to yourself and full opportunity to discover the city and will always be welcome join us on adventures. A chance to taste the varying seasons and never-ending festivals/events and secret spots.
Despite having lived here for 10 years in my 20's... 12 yrs later, I am blown away by seeing the city through a child's perspective and getting to discover spots I never knew existed. It's a "choose your own adventure" kind of workaway gig. Urban life with opportunities to bathe in nature if you're up for it!

    Alojamiento

We have a 2 bedroom apartment in a housing coop with friendly engaged neighbors in the heart of the Gay Village, downtown, 2 steps from the metro, bus, communal bikes, communal car service...all the eco options depending on the destination and weather.

You'd have your own room (it’s on the small side, yay Mtl!) and full access to the kitchen, living dining areas and we'd be sharing the bathroom. It's a typical Montreal apartment and we love our community and anyone who enjoys sharing space in close quarters.
We've always had roommates or hosted travelers in our previous life in the Caribbean, so we'll make sure you feel right at home. We enjoy sharing meals and talking about our days, caring for each other and always available to help each other out as we live life to its fullest.

Fridge and pantry always full, I love to cook and make large batches to store and we’ll be happy to add your preferences to the weekly grocery list. I’m more veggie based, kiddo is a carnivore. We find a happy medium. And spices abound- I make mean tacos and peanut sauce. Cook healthy and full of flavor. Healthy eating 90% of the time, limited food in house for us but you are free to hide a stash for yourself 😉

  • Algo más...

    Algo más...

It’s a great city to walk around in or enjoy popping in and out of the metro and experiencing totally different worlds. If you are into experiencing nature and provincial parks, many are accessible by train. And I’ll be happy to chauffeur you as my schedule permits. It's hard to describe the amazingness of this city and all it has to offer.
