Hello there! Come join our little team here in the paradise island, Siquijor, Philippines!
We are an expat couple (Charlene from US and Craig from England) who moved to the Philippines in 2019 to build our dream guest house. We have two beautiful island dogs, King King and Krispy, and one lovely cat, Kali. After traveling for many years (7 years for Craig and 3 years for Charlene) we moved here in search for a new home and to finally realize our dream of building a space for travellers like us to have a home away from home. We've volunteered at many workaways throughout our travels and have met some of our closest friends through these experiences. We wish to be able to offer the same for you!
Our location is up in the mountains, less than 2 km drive to the market and to the beaches. There is a beautiful coral marine sanctuary just off the beach with tons of great snorkelling and diving. We've got a great view of sunset so we can unwind after the day with a nice cold beer!
This is still a very new project so bare with us while we work through getting everything fully set up. We've got half a hectare of land to work with, which means we have loads of projects to go around. Down at the bottom of our land is a beautiful jungle which we have already landscaped, but there is always maintenance work to be done and we welcome any ideas on how to make our jungle more beautiful!
We've got a lounge/kitchen area up at the top of our hill which needs some art work on the walls to make the space feel more homey and creative. The view up here is awesome and is the perfect place to watch sunset. It will also be your sleeping space, unless you prefer to pitch a tent in any area of our land.
In the near future, we will be building eco-friendly dome shaped rooms made with AirCrete, which is a combination of concrete, water, and dish washing soap! Sounds like a weird combination, doesn't it? But it's a newer way of building sustainably and we want to show the world a different style of building! We're really happy to be living here and super proud of what we've created already and can't wait to share our space and knowledge with you!
On off days, we like to explore the island of Siquijor. We've been living here for 2 years now but still find new beautiful places all the time. There are amazing waterfalls, hikes, beaches, caves, diving, and so much more!
It's important to us to build a community where everyone feels welcomed, comfortable and loves to contribute to the team! We need to stress that it is highly important to us that you are a self-motivated hard worker, and not someone looking for free accomodation and food without holding up your end of the bargain. If we do not feel like you are a good fit, we will let you know sooner rather than later as to not waste everyone's time.
On a happier note, volunteers are encouraged and welcome to create what they wish to add to the uniqueness of our home. We welcome all and any ideas and can't wait to see what we can all create together! Let's have some fun!

Volunteers will learn:
-Working with AirCrete (depending on dates)
-Building domes (depending on dates)
-Building with bamboo
-Sustainable building techniques
-Planting and transplanting seedlings/harvest vegetables and fruits
-How to cook homemade Filipino cuisine
-How to work alongside awesome Filipinos
-Possibly how to speak a bit of Filipino language but this depends on you! We will have a great time of locals working alongside us
Please list your skills in detail. We are currently looking for skilled carpenters, plumbers, interior designers, architects, etc.
Currently, we are in the building stage of our guest house so we'll need a lot of help with:
-Carpentry skills preferred. We will be using a combo of wood and bamboo to create structures around the property
-Cleaning (during rainy season, tons of garbage collects at our lot from the mountain rain, so we'll need help picking it all up. We also would like to organize beach cleans!)
-Art Projects (bring your creativity and leave a piece of yourself here! We invite artists to paint murals, craft DIY projects, etc...just create what you feel inspired to do!)
-There is no limit to how you can help! Just help in anyway that you can :)

The accommodation is where our bar area is. There are two floors. The first floor will eventually be an open kitchen for everyone to use. We will take turns cooking for each other and enjoy meals together, or if you prefer to have a quieter night, that's okay too!
The second floor is where volunteers will sleep. There are plenty of comfortable, never been used before mattresses so we can host many volunteers, but we are mostly looking for two volunteers so that we can ease into hosting and see if this is something we'd like to continue in the future. We ask that no pets are allowed upstairs (unless it's King King or Krispy) since these mattresses will be used for our future guests and we want to keep them fur free!) The second floor has a beautiful view of sunset and overlooks the ocean, as well as Apo Island and Dumaguete.
We will be providing breakfast and lunch every workday. Dinner will be a shared contribution and guests are welcomed to use whatever ingredients are found on the land, and in our pantry.
We love to meet people from all around the world and have a good time. We're really relaxed people and live a pretty simple life. We've both escaped from bigger cities to enjoy the magical peacefulness of this island. We hope to have a nice community of like-minded people who want to create, contribute and just have a good time!
Some extra info...
-Rent a motorbike. 450 per day but if you rent for longer term, you can get the price down and bargain for a monthly payment
-We have a truck that we can use if we do excursions around the island or for whatever we need. We just ask that volunteers chip in for gas!
-We try not to use plastic, or if we do use it, we try to reuse it in whatever way we can, so please be mindful of this and help us reduce our waste!
-Our door is always open if you need anything, or if you're uncomfortable with anything, just be honest and we'll do our best to help!
How to get here...PLEASE LET US KNOW WHEN YOU ARE PLANNING TO ARRIVE. We can arrange pick up for a charge of 400 pesos from Siquijor Port if you inform us prior to arrival.
1. Fly from whichever city to Dumaguete Airport. You can check for cheap flights on Traveloka app!
2. From Dumaguete Airport, take a TRICYCLE to Dumaguete Port. Fair is usually 100 pesos and takes 30 minutes. Or you can walk outside the airport and take a PASSENGER JEEPNEY to Dumaguete City. Then walk a short distance or take a tricycle to the port. Not sure about the price of this option but expect to pay around 30-50 pesos.
3. At the port, take the next ferry to Siquijor. There are many different ferry companies, but make sure to take the ferry to SIQUIJOR port, and not LARENA. You can take the ferry to Larena but it's a longer distance to our home. Fare is around 130-400 pesos, depending on the time and company. Terminal fee is 15 pesos. Expect to pay extra for your bag if you take OceanJet.
4. We can pick you up from the port for 400! However, if for some reason we cannot, you can take a habal-habal (motorbike ride) or tricycle.
Alternatively, there is a cheaper way than flying, which is taking the bus from Southbound Bus Terminal in Cebu City going to BATO via Lilo-An. Then transfer to a ferry bound for Sibulan Port. When arriving at Sibulan Port, take a passenger jeepney or tricycle to Dumaguete Port, and take the next ferry to Siquijor. Expect an entire day of transportation with this method. It is much cheaper though!
