Welcome to our beautiful 180-acre horse farm nestled in the hills. This has been our family home for over 20 years. Our fields are filled with sheep, horses and olive trees. As we do not live on the farm, you should be prepared to spend a few days each week on your own. When we’re not enjoying the farm ourselves, we host guests from South America for short stays. But there are also days when the farm not being used and you can use the pool yourself. Local workers will be on the farm for 2-3 hours daily to work on specialized tasks, such as house keeping and electrical work.
We are seeking an experienced horse rider who enjoys working with animals during their visit. Your primary responsibility will be training our horses, so it’s essential that you have sufficient experience to train them daily.
In addition to horse training, there will be basic cleaning tasks, such as cleaning the chicken coop and feeding the animals. Occasionally, I may ask for your assistance with general maintenance around the farm, including gardening and helping our guests.
In April, May and June we are harvesting and cropping the 1000 olive trees which gives you the opportunity to learn about that too. I might need some extra help with this so if you don't have experience with horses, you can contact me if this sounds like something you would like.
About the Horses:
We keep our horses in the fields most of the time. Occasionally, we place them in a paddock adjacent to the farm. We also have a round pen for training and three fenced paddocks available for use. We have eight horses, of which five are ridden by you and the family; we do not use them for tourist rides. Here’s some information about our horses. Please refrain from contacting us if you are not comfortable with this type of training, as the position is based on these skills.
Serenita (15 years old):
A calm and reliable horse, she is a bit overweight and needs regular exercise. We train her in the round pen and enjoy trail rides with her. She is not easily scared and easy to work with.
Baquiano (7 years old):
A reliable and easy horse to ride, he can be scared when you work with him on the ground. It is important that you take your time be patience in his training. But when you ride him he is not easily scared at all and super easy going.
Felucho (15 years old):
Felucho is a beautiful Peruvian Paso horse with a lot of personality. He may be difficult to catch in the field initially, but once he trusts you, he becomes a loyal companion. We train him to be more relaxed whilst riding, so it's important that you can give him guidance in this training and you are relaxed yourself.
Sombre (20 years old):
A Shetland pony who is not ridden, he enjoys being brushed by children and spends most of his time grazing with the herd.
Chupete (22 years old):
Currently not being ridden due to an injury. We lunge her and practice groundwork to improve her stamina and encourage movement.
Amanecer (13 years old):
She has been retired early due to health issues.
Vikinga (4 years old):
An energetic and athletic horse, she is eager to learn. Because of her intelligence and sensitivity, she requires a confident and consistent handler.
Bacan (3 years old):
The youngest, born on our farm and the son of Amanecer. He is very curious and enjoys being around people. He is currently being trained with lunging and groundwork, focusing on responding to sound cues. We plan to start riding him when he turns four that's when the sound cues come in handy.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

The farm its close to a small city: Minas ( 10 minutes by car), when I am at the farm I can bring you there. When I am not at the farm it is possible to go to the nearest camping place which has a supermarket and restaurant (Cero Arequita). You can go there by yourself in your free time walking (which takes about an 90 minutes).
It is a great place if you enjoy nature, winding down and work with animals. I can help you improving your Spanish and learn about farming.El anfitrión ofrece una paga acorde al salario mínimo

I was planning to stay for a month but I ended up being here for 2,5 months. I could only describe it as one of the most magical periods of my life.
This is mostly because of the host Sebastian and the horses.
