Hello Workawayers,
I'm happy to tell you that according to the world travel & tourism Council, Tanzania was awarded the safe Travels Destination stamp, so don't hesitate to come over and help people in need.
Who are we???
My name is Weza,Weza is a swahili word which was given by my friends, it means ''ability to do something '' my official name is AUGUSTINO KESSY and I run a non profit organisation based on supporting both children and youth in a soccer- and an academic program.
Our football academy started in 2012 with the aim of taking care of children and youth academically in school and, after school hours, in different sport and games just to keep them healthy and busy. In 2014, we got official registration as a football club in Arusha with the aim of teaching youth soccer during their free time. In the morning, we teach children and Youth different subjects like English, Mathematics, Geography Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Our focus is to provide a stimulation through the power of education, as well as a soccer experience for children and youth in a way that it develops and enhances their skills and passion for the game. Our effort is to ensure that further down the line, this skill and enthusiasm translates into success for them, both on and off the field. Currently we are enrolling both boys and girls in our academic- and our football programme. We are open to providing training to all children and whatever their background. This opens a window of opportunity for even deprived children who can grow up to become an asset for their family and the society at large rather than becoming a burden. Since we are still in the initial stage of our growth, we do need the support of volunteers, who will appreciate our positive outlook and contribution to society.
Additionally, we are planning on hosting a music programme to teach teenagers different instruments like the drums, the guitar or the piano as well as to sing. With this we want to make the kids aware of their different talents and give them an opportunity as well as self-esteem for their adult life. The instruments are there and the kids are available, but we are currently lacking affordable teachers. This is why we would love to welcome volunteers with music skills to help us give teenagers a new perspective by showing them how to play instruments or sing.
Film making.
This is a new program beginning in 2022, with the aim of promoting local talent, as well as educating people about daily life in Arusha. We hope that this will also keep the local children busy outside of school and enable them to carry their film/acting talent forward into employment. We are looking for any volunteers with an interest in tv and film to help with the production, editing and acting of the program.
Our objectives..
1.Instill the values of education and importance of behaving at school and home
2.Encourage the players to maintain satisfactory grades in school and to emphasize the importance of keeping a proper relationship and balance between scholastic and athletic endeavours.
3.Keep our community youth busy and away from using drugs.
4.Bringing our youth closer together through common interest in education, soccer and music.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje
