Hello! My name is Lumi. I’m 28 years old, and have been backpacking through Asia since August 2023. Before beginning my journey, I worked full-time at an NGO in Washington, DC for four years. Making progress in a career that I found meaningful and fulfilling was important to me, and I am very grateful to have been able to do this. But, as time went on, I found myself becoming increasingly restless. Eventually, I traced the origin of these feelings to the fact that chasing my career had required me to ignore my deep-seated desire to explore, experience, feel, and learn about all that our world contains. So, last summer, I finally bit the bullet and began my travels.

I’m on Workaway because I believe in getting to truly know people, places and communities during my travels. I think that platforms like this not only have an incredible power to bring like-minded people together, but also to transform travelers like myself from mere passersby into something more.

It would fill my heart to be able to give a piece of myself to add to the mosaic of your project, home, family, or community.

I can do a great many things, and if I can’t do it, I’m willing to learn. Maybe that is my best skill — willingness to learn.
