  • Description

We are a couple from Bristol, UK who have been together for 7 years. We love spending time outdoors through walking and camping. Both being creatives, we often share time in that space together working on our own projects, whilst also running a creative platform together. We have a strong sense of family and friendship in our lives and love to cook and share food with our loved ones regularly. We love exploring this beautifully complex world together and have been doing so through different trips both locally within the UK and afar throughout our 7 years together.

    Lola:

I am a mixed media artist, utilising my creativity and thinking to inspire and empower. I have a very big heart with a lot of love for the world and beings which surround me. Community is incredibly important to me, even through times of loneliness, and is something I want to create a strong sense of in my life. Spending time outdoors and making strong connections with all kinds of kin, including land, rivers, trees is essential to a fulfilled life, and is something I deem very important. I am feeling very inspired to get my fingers in the soil and learn, learn, learn. Morning rituals of meditation, movement, visualization and writing, allow me to top up my inner well so I am able to give to the world. Food, swimming, walking, fires and dancing are all great sources of my happiness. I have been caring for children alongside working as an artist for the past 4 years and feel very comfortable in this role, it is such a gift to watch children grow and develop through play, exploration and nurturing.

    Mike:

I am a traveller by heart, creativity is where I thrive as a human. Connecting with people through creativity, talking, listening & working alongside all walks of life is the way I like to live life in this world. Community is a very important aspect of my live in which I find very inspiring to be able to work together on projects, learn from each-other and teach people skills I have picked up on the way.

I am a music producer and have been working, thriving in that world for the last 10 years. When I'm not making music or travelling/performing with that craft, I work as a builder part time. Mainly focusing on eco builds in and around the City I live in, Bristol UK.

  • More details about your skills

Being an artist by nature, I feel confident with any artistic, creative and imaginative projects that I can help bring to life. I'm an articulate and creative writer and am confident in working with my hands for both 3D & 2D projects, including sculpture and painting. This extends into painting and decorating. Although I have little experience with cob building, this is a skill amongst many other hands on building techniques that I would love to learn and bring a sculptors touch to. I have been working part time as a nanny and a cleaner for the past three years so would be happy to clean your home, tidy any outdoor and indoor spaces, help organise that pile of stuff you've been looking at for months, and look after your babes if you have any! I love to work and simply be outdoors, and although I don't have heaps of gardening experience, this is something I am keen to learn and skill up on during my time at your workaway, with particular interest in permaculture techniques/systems of growing and connecting to the eco system. I am confident with cooking meals for both small and large amounts of people. I love getting creative with food and get great pleasure cooking with food straight from the garden! I would also be pleased to create and share ritualistic and ceremonial space with anyone who is seeking it. Amongst these skills, I am a fast and eager learner, supportive of others, team player, interested in other people and knowledge, and importantly know how to have a laugh and treat people with kindness and respect.
