Hello Workaway Community!

I’m Christopher. I was born and raised in Southwest of the United States in Salt Lake City, Utah, but I’ve been living in Las Vegas, NV for several years. Outside of the US, I’ve lived in France, Canada, and Mexico. I travel lightly.

I'm a poet at heart as well as a university teacher with endless interests. During college, I was a service-learning scholar where I did outreach work with vulnerable populations in urban areas in the US. I have a Bachelor in English Literature and a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry and Literary Translation. 10+ years of teaching experience in US and French schools. Broadly speaking, I'm interested in the arts and service.

I’m a hard worker and a fast learner. I enjoy collaborative projects, but I am also good at working independently. I’m responsible, punctual, self-organized, easy-going, tidy, adaptable, ready to listen and engage; I'm a handyman and self-starter. I can keep to myself or have heart-to-heart conversations. I like to cultivate a positive and grounded outlook on life, which includes caring for my body and mind as well as my surrounding environment.

Generosity, curiosity, kindness, compassion, and creativity are key to how I move through the world. I have experience living in an intentional community. I have lived in rural, suburban, and urban environments. I can drive, cook, write, garden, paint, organize, teach. I can fix basic computer issues; I know my way around MS Word, Excel, Adobe InDesign, can do light photo & video editing. I enjoy meeting new people.

My interests include Qigong, yoga, hiking, urban trekking, meditating, singing, writing, swimming, cooking, experiential education, literature, coffee and tea, cultural exchange, museum-going, and building community. Someday I’d like to fly in a hot air balloon and paraglide!
