Hi!

My name is Elly, I am 28 years old from Canada. I have lived all over my own country, mainly in small mountainous towns. I am finishing my Masters in Art Education and will be travelling to Europe to decompress from school life.

TRAVEL / Workaway Goals:
September 1, 2023 - I’m currently outside of Toulouse on a Workaway and am interested in finding more opportunities later into September & early October. My first Workaway experience did not meet my expectations (apologies for the 1-star rating…) and helped me to realize I am looking for a community focused, hands-on or project based experience where I can learn new skills with other people and spend time outdoors. I am happy to speak in-depth about what you are looking for and how I can help you.

My goals while on Workaway are to improve my French, learn new languages, be introduced to new cultures and also build on my hands-on skills. I am not afraid to take on new tasks and promise to bring a strong work ethic to your home.

ABOUT ME:
I love being outside, skiing, hiking, skateboarding, camping and running, yoga, art, sewing and dancing are all things that keep me passionate. I am a very open-minded person, I love meeting new people. I'm friendly, outgoing and great at communicating. I am a deep thinker and love engaging in conversations. I value organization and structure, just as much as I like to be spontaneous. Work/life balance is very important to me.

I am highly creative and am passionate about the arts. I run a small upcycled clothing company and enjoy drawing as well. I am excited to pursue a career in art education and administration.

Here are some skills that I can offer:
- Sewing - I am an avid sewer, I make clothing and can do repairs on clothing and machines.
- Child care - I love children and have many years of experience working as a camp counselor and delivering eco-programs to kids. I also have run workshops for youth in museums and art galleries.
- Hands-on labour - I am comfortable using tools & equipment
- Gardening - I have some experience working in gardens, I am super comfortable outside and can lift heavy things
- Painting & decorating spaces - I studied curating and putting together art exhibitions in school, I love working on these types of projects!
- Online & digital projects - Photoshop, social media, building & updating websites, file organization, branding & marketing
- Organizing spaces to be more functional
- Cooking - I love to cook using fresh vegetables and fruits, I eat very healthy and love learning about other cultures through cooking
- I am very excited to learn new skills too!

- Excellent with children and youth of all ages: have worked as a camp counselor for 4 years, guided outdoor adventure programs, taught workshops, and LOTS of babysitting/nannying
- Cooking, cafe experience: competent making delicious food (vegan, vegetarian food included) and making espresso drinks

- Working in art and cultural settings: I have coordinated many arts spaces, events, and art exhibitions (I'm interested in curating!)
