  • Description

I love people, travelling, being outdoors and feeling that sense of accomplishment when completing a task. I'm not afraid of hard work and don't mind menial tasks. I enjoy working as part of a team but am a motivated self-starter if working alone. I love learning and experiencing new things.

I am good with my hands-retired dentist with a lifetime of experience in construction, maintenance and all types of land-clearing and yardwork. I've built garages, decks, retaining walls etc. I'm comfortable with most hand tools and not afraid to learn. Also, I am certified as a teacher of English as a foreign language(TEFL).

  • What else ...

I enjoy reading, movies, board games and talking deep into the night while staring into a fire. I enjoy backpacking and in 2016 completed the Appalachian Train-as a section hiker, not as a thru hiker. Recent travels have included 3 trips totaling 6 weeks in the Middle East doing refugee relief and a 3 month stay in India working with minority children. From Nov2020 thru July2021 I worked on a polyculture farm in the Northwest (8-10 hr days involved in all aspects of farm life). It was a three month commitment that turned into eight months-the owner asked me to stay on indefinitely. I have been in Fairbanks, AK since the end of August doing light renovation, land clearing and obtaining fire wood.I would like a longer stay with an educational/service opportunity that allows me the chance to be a part of the community being served.
