Hello Workaway community! 👋 We're Remco & Marcella, a couple with a passion for adventure, creativity, and a desire to embrace a different kind of life. Fresh from the rewarding experience of building our own camper van, we're currently travelling Spain & Portugal.

We feel in our element when we're exploring the great outdoors, whether it's conquering mountain trails on our bikes or hiking through picturesque landscapes. We find happiness in the simple yet profound moments shared in nature.

Creativity and handiness are two things we have in common. We're thrilled to acquire new skills – a process that comes naturally to us. Life for us is about constant learning and growth. We would love to learn more about an off grid life, permaculture, life, mountainbike trailbuilding and art.

Choosing the unconventional over the conventional, we're steering away from the typical trappings of modern city life. The dream is a self-sufficient life that nurtures both us and the environment, where living with the rhythm of nature is the standard. We're not just dreamers, also doers. The prospect of creating and maintaining mountain bike trails adds another layer of excitement to our journey.

Remco is a bicycle mechanic at heart, but loves to work on anything mechanical. He grew up fixing his own bikes and helping his dad with landscaping/gardening work. The last years have been dedicated to learning new skills such as carpentry, water/electricity installations and allround maintenance of various vehicles and installations.

Marcella works in daily life as a freelance creative & graphic designer, preferably with her hands - drawing, painting, using handprint techniques etc. She also has experience working with her hands in other areas, like painting around the house, paintwork on cars, woodworking, working in a vegetable garden - both my own 50m2 and helping out Remco's dad on his 150m2. She grew up with an oldtimer loving dad who always could use some extra hands with working on the cars.

Food is a shared interest of us, we both love to cook and use fresh ingredients.

Our biggest project together is our campervan which we built from scratch. We did everything together and we really complement each other. Remco is the technical and strong one of us and Marcella the creative and delicate one. It gave us experience in many different fields, like planning, insulation, electricity and water installation, woodworking and construction. These experiences will help us in the future with something like building our own house (which would be really a dream coming true)

What else ...

We both love mountainbiking, one of the main reasons to go exploring. The days we don't ride our bike, we like to hike. We like music a lot and Remco plays guitar for fun. We can be happy with just being in nature, sitting and watching the views, the sea or the trees. Also we are animal friends!
