  • Description

First things first, the reason for me choosing Workaway:

I've recently experienced some personal tragedies that has prompted me to reevaluate the important things in life. After being stuck in an uninspiring office job for far too long, it's time to pull the plug and start the journey towards happiness. My plan is to travel all across South Africa and help out where I can. It might not seem like that big a deal to just travel locally, but this country has so many beautiful places that I have yet to see, and any day that I don't have to spend stuck in a drab office will be a good day, and a new experience for me.

    About me:

I'm perpetually on a quest to reinvent myself, ha, but a few things have remained constant over the years. Still very much an introvert (INTP if you're into that sort of analysis, and according to Jung, apparently also a Joker). I have no problem being on my own and working on my own and generally get along with all kinds of people. I like Star Wars. And I LOVE road trips. I'm also really good at planning things, and managing things. Patient, tenacious, and I can also fix your computer.

I try to be as environmentally friendly as possible so I have a natural habit of reusing things and using water sparingly. Whatever plastics I can't recycle go into a 2L bottle to make ecobricks. I also have experience with Bokashi composting. Over the years I have experimented with various lifestyles and hobbies, and have thus accumulated tons of knowledge about what works and what doesn't.

For the DIY side of things, I like to paint. Walls, doors, gates, whatever. I also like gardening.

My other hobbies include hiking and trail running so it's important to me that I have access to a safe stretch of road/park/trail in order to keep fit.

All in all, I'm very excited for this new phase in my life. I think helping other people in whatever way will be a very rewarding experience. I would love to learn more about being self-sufficient and off the grid, and to see how other people have managed so far. And maybe find some catharsis along the way.

PS. For those looking for a travel buddy: I know the roads. I have my own vehicle and can take one person along. Two might be a tight fit. Feel free to get in touch and let's see if we can work something out.

Baking, cooking, knitting, gardening. Tech savvy. Dog whisperer (at least I like to think so). I can put your life story down on paper. Or, if it is already down on paper, I could proofread and edit to get it ready for publishing. (Yes, I also once dabbled in journalism and writing science fiction). I can also read to people. Please see my photo gallery for stuff I have made.
