  • Description

My name is Lillian and I am from Vermont in the U.S. Throughout my life, I have continuedly loved art, dance, and the outdoors. Since I was a small child, I found myself dancing in so many styles : ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, musical theater... I spent hours training and found myself traveling to competitions. Then through my high school, nestled in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, I found myself falling in love with new activities: mountain biking, skiing, backcountry skiing, hiking, and running. At the same time, I was developing my academic interests and found myself intrigued by environmental science, geography, history, and anthropology.

After high school, I was able to participate in a program on the coast of Maine called Seguinland Institute. Here, I studied art, environmental literature and the philosophy of living a good life.

These interest led me to British Colombia, Canada. Surrounded by world class, biking, climbing, and skiing, I found myself at home in the area. I studied at Quest University and the University of British Columbia, with a major in geography. While at school, I also helped host a music festival and completed my avalanche skills training,

During the summer between school, I worked as a mountain bike camp counselor for preteens. I was responsible for all of the children, as well as the counselors in training. I loved working with the kids (so much that I am working there again this summer) and watching them nail a new skill or smile after a fun downhill.

I am taking this semester off of school and have spent it reengaging with my creative and authentic self. In January, I took a creative writing class on the coast of Maine, again at Seguinland Institute. Here, I worked on my poetry, practiced yoga and engaged in other outdoor activities like ice fishing, cross country skiing, and ice skating. After this, my brother and I headed off on a road trip across the Unites States, stopping to ski and visit old friends. Now, I am looking for my next adventure! I continue to be interested in expanding my creative side and I am excited to explore the culture of a new area. I am excited to learn new skills and meet new people. I work incredibly hard at whatever I am doing, whether that be in school, a job, or a new skill. I am excited for this next chapter and I am open to all the possibilities it may bring.
