  • Description

Hi everyone! I'm Laura, I'm 23 and I'm Italian, from Bologna.
I come from a big family of 6, but I've been living by myself for the last three years due to my University being in another city. I'm almost done with a bachelor degree in Biology, and I'm planning on furthering my studies in Osteopathy.
Before starting the School of Osteopathy, I'd like to challenge myself and go out of my comfort zone. I've travelled quite a lot, but almost always as a tourist; what I'm looking for at the moment is a deep connection with new people and cultures.
I strongly believe in the importance of human relationships, in sharing experiences and in travelling as a way of learning about themselves and the world.
I like travelling with an adventurous mindset, giving importance to small things.
My happy place can be found everywhere there is nature, good food and good people.
Trekking and hiking are at the top of my list of favourite thinks to do, visiting cities and learning about the culture and the history of new places come immediately after.
As much as I like travelling, I also need "couch potato" moments in which I rest by reading books, listening to music or crime podcast, meditating and just being by myself.
I've recently discovered a passion and an unexpected talent for cooking, I find it relaxing and use it as a way to clear my mind.
I think of myself as an independent, smart, outgoing and open-minded person.

  • More details about your skills

I don't have any particular practical skills that I've developed to a professional level, but I've had many experiences which have made me able to manage and adapt to many situations.

I was a guide in a scout group for 8 years, this has thought me to cooperate and coordinate many people, to navigate unconfortable circumstances and practical skills to survive in the wild with minimal tools (starting a fire, building a kitchen with mud and wood, and building things in general).

Since the age of 14 I've always worked and volunteered. In particular I've babysat and helped with homework, I've been an animator in summer camps; I've worked as a waitress, gardener and cleaning lady.

The most significant volunteering experience was spending a month as a 19 year-old girl helping nuns and educators in an orphanage with 35 children in Togo, Africa. Leaving and staying there by myself has made me develop the ability to manage difficult situations in a place with a culture completely different from mine without the comforts that I was used to have at home (like constant supply of water and electricity). This experience has incredibly improved my ability to adapt and to solve problems.
While I was there I tried to respect their childrearing culture while at the same time bringing my own ways of taking care and entertaining kids, ways that have been ameliorated due to this interaction/integration.

Talking about less practical skills, I'm confortable saying that I possess to a quite good extent the following skills/personality traits:
    - good listener, empathetic and respectful person
    - punctual with appointments and deadlines. I like being organised and not to leave important things to chance
    - precise and neat
    - self-ironic
    - patient
    - curious
    - good at team work

In addition to the skills cited above, the most important ones that I believe to possess are not being afraid of working hard, being open to learning new abilities and being good and fast at it.

  • What else ...

In my free time I enjoy doing many things and sharing them with my friends. Some of these things are:
    - going to concerts/festivals
    - visiting art expositions and museums
    - chilling at the pub while chatting and drinking good wine

Sport doesn't have the priority in my life, but I've always done it till my adolescence (swimming, basketball, climbing and skating) and I'd like to keep trying new ones, both indoors and outdoors.

  • Some more information

    • Allergies
intollerant to gluten, not a big problem if I eat it occasionally.

I have to pay attention to what I eat because of a medical condition, but my diet it's not too strict and I can eat almost everything. It's not complicated.
