I have worked in hospitality on and off for 15 years and have gained many skills from my different roles. I have attention to detail, multitasking abilities, able to work with an array of people of different ages and cultures.
I studied development studies and cultural anthropology at university and that has open my work to a lot of opportunities. I volunteered in Timor-Leste for 1 year after university which was one of the most amazing experiences of my life as I lived in a local community and had to learn their native language in order to be able to for fill my roles as a volunteer.
I have also volunteered for the Redcross refugee resettlement program across 2 years. In this role I had to support families and individuals set up a new stable life in New Zealand. This was extremely forfilling.
I also have experience in looking after young children from new borns to teenagers. I love seeing life through the perspective of children and you can always learn something from them.
Just before I left for travel I completed one year of shift work for the New Zealand Police answering emergency calls. This allowed me to develop a lot of skills such as working under pressure, providing support to people from all works of life and helping people feel safe in some of their most stressful moments.Age
