Hi there! We're Heather and Alex from the UK. We're currently travelling around the world and hoping to settle in Australia for a while, complete the conditions for a second working holiday visa, experience new sights and culture and meet some new people.

We both have experience working in hospitality (Alex working as a general manager in a restaurant and Heather as a head server) so enjoy chatting and getting to know people. This is our first time travelling for a long period of time so are looking to make friends we make along and any advice we receive would be greatly appreciated.

We're looking for an active experience, we both love the outdoors and wildlife and Australia seems like a wonderful place to experience that up close and personal.

Job wise, we're very open minded. Ideally we need a something which would fit our working holiday visa conditions but we're happy to work on a farm with the animals or help around the house. We would also welcome any hospitality positions. Anything which allows us to further experience all Australia has to offer and help us fund the next leg of our travels.

We both have experience working in hospitality. Alex has worked in the industry since he was 16. He really has done it all- bar tending, pot washing, cooking the kitchen, serving and most recently was general manager of a busy restaurant in Leeds. He has many years of experience dealing with organisation, food orders, team work and customer service. In the future, we hope to open a bed and breakfast business so any further experience we can gain whilst working abroad would be put to great use.

Alex has also trained as a chef and can make some incredible meals! (I can definitely vouch for that, he's the chef in our house).

I (Heather) worked at the same restaurant as head server. One of my responsibilities was training the new starters and making them feel welcome in the new environment.

Working in hospitality has given us both a greater understanding of how to give people a great experience in restaurant and how to manage difficult situations where people may not be best please with their experience.

We've also both grown up around animals and would love an experience where we could care for the local wildlife to give something back to the amazing creatures which bring us so much joy. Australian wildlife is obviously very to that of the UK and seeing these new animals was one of the reasons we chose to visit Australia.

My best friend used to live on a farm with: donkeys, goats, pigs, ducks, chickens, cats and dogs. I often helped out with cleaning out, grooming and feeding the animals and it's still one of my favourite memories. I would love to experience caring for animals once again.
