Beschreibung

Hey there! My name is Paul, I am from the UK (but did not vote to leave the EU!). I am taking three months out of work from mid September through to early December to travel in Italy and to do some volunteering along the way. My main motivations for doing this are to: broaden my horizons, learn some new skills, meet new people, experience different ways of life, learn Italian (I've been studying the language for just over a year now but this is my first time in Italy) and to take a break from full-time work in the UK.

My interests include gardening, cooking, yoga, tantra, sustainable living in harmony with nature and making authentic connections with other people. I also play percussive instruments such as the cajón and am learning to play the ukulele.

This will be the third year that I have volunteered through Workaway. The first year was in 2019 where I was volunteering independently for just over a month at a yoga, meditation and tantra centre called Ängsbacka in Sweden during their festival season as a member of their kitchen team helping to cook food for everyone on site. During the busiest periods, we were cooking for in excess of 1000 people.

That year, I also did two Workaway placements: One at Kundalini Yoga centre in mid-France helping with building maintenance and welcoming guests and another with a host family in Provence helping them with some renovation work.

The second year was in 2023 where I spent just under seven weeks helping to renovate a large farm house into a retreat centre for artistic/creative courses (song writing, music, dance etc.)

I'm interested in exploring communities, especially with spiritual aspects such as yoga and meditation.

In the past I have volunteered in various roles including:

Information centre volunteer for 5 months at the Centre for Alternative Technology. My role there consisted of: Researching solar photo voltaic and solar thermal technologies in order to write and present a guided tour on the subject. Giving general guided tours. Answering public enquiries via email, telephone and face-to-face at the front desk. Researching into wind power and building a demonstration wind turbine in order to present a practical workshop for visitors over the summer. Holding Zero Carbon Britain talks.

Kitchen volunteer for the French festival: Le Rêve de l'Aborigène. There I was working as part of a team cooking food for all the other volunteers and organisers of the festival.

I have also done some WOOFing in France at a small organic farm for a chambre d'hote in Deux-Sèvres, a goat farm in Vaucluse and a tomato farm in Provence.

Dans le passé, je me suis porté volontaire dans divers rôles, notamment:

Centre d'information bénévole pendant 5 mois au Center for Alternative Technology. Mon rôle consistait à: Rechercher des technologies les panneaus thermiques solaires et les panneaus photovoltaïque afin d’écrire et de présenter une visite guidée sur le sujet. Donner des visites guidées générales. Répondre aux demandes du public par courrier électronique, téléphone et en face-à-face à la réception. Recherches sur l'énergie éolienne et construction d'une éolienne de démonstration afin de présenter un atelier pratique aux visiteurs pendant l'été. Animé les séminaire de 'Zero Carbon Britain'

Bénévole de cuisine pour le festival français: Le rêve de l'Aborigène. Là-bas, je travaillais dans le cadre d’une équipe préparant des plats pour tous les autres bénévoles et organisateurs du festival.

J'ai également fait du WOOFing en France dans une petite ferme bio pour une chambre d'hôte dans les Deux-Sèvres, une ferme à chèvres dans le Vaucluse et une ferme à tomates en Provence.

Was noch ...

J'aime écouter la musique et jouer du percussion (cajón, bodhrán irlandais etc.). J'aime jouer avec les autres musiciens. Aussi, je possède un ukulélé mais je suis débutant avec cet instrument.
