My name is Tennie, and I’m 23 years old and from Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm about to graduate from university with a degree in Journalism, Arabic, and Sociology. I’m interested in just about everything, which makes it really tough to decide which path I want to take with my life! As of right now, I think I’m going to pursue freelance writing for a good long while, and I want to travel around meeting new people, working hard, learning new crafts, and living off of whatever I can earn. I love to listen to birdsong/rivers/conversations/music, I love to read, I love to swim, bike, hike, paint, dance, sit around a fire, smell the rain, smell the flowers, and bake in the sun. I am very easily and often in love with life. I’m learning to play the banjo, and I love making blackberry pies. I have been really eager to work with my hands and connect with the land, as well as live in an intentional community that takes care of each other & the earth. I’m relatively tidy, as in I do my dishes and always make my bed, although I love messes borne of creativity and I usually have an ever-growing pile of incense ash on my nightstand.

Hello! My name is Olivia. I'm 25 years old and am from a small town in Utah. I met Etienne at university and we have been friends ever since! We both studied Arabic and have lived and traveled in the Levant. After graduating, I have been working at a nonprofit organization that assists refugees from all over world in their resettlement into Salt Lake City. For the first 18 years of my life I grew up on a farm and have lots of experience working with animals. Our farm had cows, horses, chickens, turkeys, goats, bunnies, and llamas. I really value spending time and caring for animals, and loved all the experiences I got by spending lots of time outdoors throughout my life. Outside of work, I love to read and explore new places (even in my own neighborhood), listening to and discovering new music and watching international films. I find meaning in challenging myself by learning new languages, skills, and ways of thinking about the world. I'm so excited to continue learning through travel and meeting new people.

I have devoted the past 3 years in college to learning Arabic, and I lived in Jordan for 4 months last fall working on my fluency. I would love to continue this journey in any capacity I can! I'm also fluent in English, and I have worked as a children's English teacher before, so I could be a language partner for anyone trying to learn English and could help provide structured learning! I would also love learning a little bit of any other languages!
