Hello Workawayers!

I'm Piet (short for Pierre), 33 yo, from Belgium. I have been travelling from Belgium to Australia and back by land and sea since April 2024. I'm now on my way back home, travelling on a sailing boat, currently crossing the Indian Ocean from Thailand to Djibouti.

I love nature, sport and music. I am curious and like to stay active, but know how to chill sometimes (love taking naps). I also like reading, learn new skills and teach what I know.

I've been hooked to surf since I am 15 that's why I went to Australia for a year. I like to work in a job that suits my environmental and social values. I'm conscious and pretty worried about the impact that we humans have on the planet. I studied environmental engineering in Belgium, it helped me understand more about the dynamics that make the situation go wrong... and also trying to find solutions.
I soon realised that as an engineer, you are trained to be a tool that is needed to solve complex problems. That's for the "how". But when it comes to the "why" and the "who", it needs more than engineers to find the answer. I believe that all fields of knowledge contain a part of the answers we need.

Finally, I believe that living and working with the locals is the best way to discover a country. Can't wait to meet you !

I try to touch at everything I find... I play the drums, and a bit of guitar. I like to work in construction, in the garden or in the fields. I like to create things, draw, and I'm always ready to learn new skills!
