Beschreibung

Hello, my name is Shannon. I am currently living in Paris and learning French. I have travelled a lot in my life and have had many amazing WorkAway experiences doing many different things - teaching, building, gardening, hosting, cleaning, nannying, caring for others. I am excited to have the time to do another volunteer project this year, and hope to find welcoming people to spend a good time with and practise my French!

I am a qualified teacher from the UK, and in Paris I work as an English teacher. I have worked in many schools as a teacher and teaching assistant, as a carer and a nanny for children of all ages, and with varying needs and disabilities. I am pretty adventurous and fun loving, I really enjoy new experiences and am always up for whatever is thrown my way! I am friendly and easy going, and love meeting new people from all over the world. I love to hang out with others but am also happy doing my own thing. I am hard working, and am happy to get my hands dirty, enjoy physical work, as well as working with children and other adults. I am pretty active, I cycle a lot here in Paris and am really into climbing. I am just starting to learn to kitesurf, and enjoy surfing and walking. Anything in the outdoors I am usually keen to get involved in!

I am excited to see what this years projects will bring and to meet some great people along the way :)

I am currently living in Paris, learning French. I am working at A2/B1 level, so am conversational and able to get by in the majority of situations. I would really like to spend time practising French to try to consolidate my skills. I also speak Spanish, although I have never studied the language I lived in Spain and travelled in South America so I have a conversational level. I am always happy to speak Spanish and improve my level. I am a native English speaker and an English teacher, so I am always happy to share my knowledge and do some fun activities linked to language learning.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Through my work and experiences I have gained many skills. I am a good comminicater and team player. I listen well and like to work with others to build on and improve ideas. I am a qualified teacher, and have worked with a huge range of people, from many different backgrounds, with a variety of physical abilities, ages, and specific needs. This means I have learnt to adapt my teaching style and resources to fit others needs and environments. This skill can translate easily into other working environments, meaning I can get along with and work with anyone. Through this work I have also had to develop resoursefulness and problem solving skills, to be able to overcome challenges that arrise in the moment.
