We are a recently retired couple (IT consultant and university manager) embracing the opportunities of retirement. A lifetime of experience owning pet animals was supplemented 15 years ago when we bought a smallholding where we grew our own produce and kept sheep, poultry and bees. Our main hobbies throughout our life have been walking, travelling and horse riding (we used to own our own horses and have ridden across the world). We love life in the outdoors.

Somos una pareja recientemente jubilada (consultor de TI y gerente universitario) que aprovecha las oportunidades de la jubilación. Toda una vida de experiencia en la propiedad de animales de compañía se complementó hace 15 años cuando compramos una pequeña propiedad donde cultivamos nuestros propios productos y criamos ovejas, aves de corral y abejas. Nuestros principales pasatiempos a lo largo de nuestra vida han sido caminar, viajar y montar a caballo (solíamos tener nuestros propios caballos y hemos viajado por todo el mundo). We have extensive experience acquired over the years to maintain and manage old properties, gardens and land. On our smallholding we have had a variety of animals from dogs and cats to chickens and sheep, including breeding ewes from which we had lambs for several years. We are used to looking after them in all seasons!
Horses have been our great love, Sally from childhood, and myself after she taught me to ride on our first horse when we were married (over 40 years ago). We have enjoyed several self guided trail rides alone with full responsibility for the care of our horses until we return to base. We have also ridden in more remote locations (Central Asia, Africa, etc) and are used to handling a wide variety of different horses in very varied landscapes.
While house sitting horses we have looked after a pair of fully stabled fit hunters, a top breeding mare and foal, and a field of 8 retired eventers, and if requested we have exercised these as necessary.
We have always taken pride in the care of the old homes we have lived in, and enjoyed gardening (flower, vegetable and greenhouse), land management and done DIY (major and minor) to maintain and improve them.
Although we are now seeking our first workaway experience, we have completed 10 housesits through Trusted Housesitters covering a range of animals from dogs and cats to horses and poultry. Example references from our housesitting are:

Contamos con una dilatada experiencia adquirida a lo largo de los años en el mantenimiento y gestión de antiguas fincas, jardines y terrenos. En nuestro minifundio hemos tenido una variedad de animales desde perros y gatos hasta gallinas y ovejas, incluyendo ovejas reproductoras de las que tuvimos corderos durante varios años. ¡Estamos acostumbrados a cuidarlos en todas las estaciones!
Los caballos han sido nuestro gran amor, Sally desde la infancia y yo después de que ella me enseñó a montar en nuestro primer caballo cuando nos casamos (hace más de 40 años). Hemos disfrutado de varios paseos por senderos autoguiados solos con la responsabilidad total del cuidado de nuestros caballos hasta que regresemos a la base. También hemos montado en lugares más remotos (Asia Central, África, etc.) y estamos acostumbrados a manejar una gran variedad de caballos diferentes en paisajes muy variados.

Siempre nos hemos enorgullecido del cuidado de las casas antiguas en las que hemos vivido, y disfrutamos de la jardinería (flor, verdura e invernadero), la gestión de la tierra y el bricolaje (mayor y menor) para mantenerlas y mejorarlas.
Aunque ahora buscamos nuestra primera experiencia de Workaway, hemos completado 10 houseits a través de Trusted Housesitters que cubren una variedad de animales, desde perros y gatos hasta caballos y aves de corral. Ejemplos de referencias de nuestro cuidado de la casa son:

Was noch ...

We have always enjoyed travel to more remote locations on horseback including crossing the Namib desert and riding deep into the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Now we are retired we are able to take more time to travel slowly and enjoy a deeper experience of the countries we visit. This has included overlanding in Nepal, canoeing and wild camping in the Yukon and walking a 500 mile Spanish Camino.

Siempre nos ha gustado viajar a lugares más remotos a caballo, como cruzar el desierto de Namib y adentrarnos en las montañas de Kirguistán. Ahora que estamos jubilados podemos tomarnos más tiempo para viajar despacio y disfrutar de una experiencia más profunda de los países que visitamos. Esto ha incluido aterrizar en Nepal, navegar en canoa y acampar en el Yukón y caminar un Camino Español de 500 millas
