Hi, I’m happy you’re here!

I’m Marta from Portugal.

I quit my corporate job to return to nature for a while. Perhaps forever.

Passionate about our planet, slow and sustainable living, art, music, meditation and dreaming.

For the past year and a half I have been travelling the world using Workaway, which gives me the chance to truly feel part of the local community, get to know the culture and help in projects that are activily creating something meaningful.

I volunteered in surf camps, hostels, permaculture farms, festivals, animal sanctuaries, cultural associations and eco communities around Austria, Italy, Greece, Albania, Croatia, Spain, Morocco, France and Portugal.

I learned a lot about gardening, growing vegetables, how to care for animals (like chicken, sheep, goats, donkeys), natural stone building, upcycling, cooking, organising events, playing music and social media.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I graduated in Law and worked in Compliance and Anti Money Laundering at a Fintech company and a Big 4 consulting firm. I am however looking for a change of life and a way to connect with nature. I'm open-minded, insightful, organized and detail oriented.

I have also been to Jazz school and worked all kinds of jobs before in hospitality, as a film extra, promoted and worked at music festivals and did many awareness campaigns related to environmental issues. I’m very adaptable and eager to learn.

I really like to cook, mostly within the Mediterranean diet. I grew up by the sea in a fishing town with many interesting local dishes, I could share some of them with you. I am also very interested in foraging and cooking with wild plants, as well as fermenting and conserving food.

Art is my biggest passion, from playing music to painting to creating collages – this is what I spend my free time doing.

I have also run a blog for a few years and done social media for a charity and a hostel, so if you need any help with internet related subjects, managing websites or social media (including photography) I can lend a hand.

Art and culture, organic farming, permaculture, animal care, DIY/building and sailing are my main areas of interest and the reason I left the city behind. Suddenly, that Bob Dylan quote comes to mind: “I was born very far from where I'm supposed to be, and so I'm on my way home.”

Things that give me joy: being in nature, playing guitar, singing, painting, listening to music, reading, writing, reflecting, sitting with tea, dogs and animals in general, the ocean, boats, hugs and laughs.
