I grew up on a small island in the Puget Sound, called Lopez. Lopez is the rural northwest, with mossy forests and rich farm land. With very few businesses and 1500 residents, I was blessed to grow up in constant contact with our magical earth. When I turned 18, I moved to Boulder Colorado to study Yoga and Early Childhood Education at Naropa University. Naropa is a Buddhist inspired University started by the Shambala Rimpoche, Chogyam Trungpa. I Naropa's main objective is the transformation of our world to a healthier, more cohesive wellbeing for the individual, the community, and the environment. My core values of self awareness, mindfulness, community building, and planetary healing work in harmony with Naropas approach to education. Since graduating from Naropa I have spent a year living in Cusco, Peru where I taught at a Waldorf preschool, Hijos del Sol. I have also taught at various preschools in the states. My passion is working with children, they help remind me of my intrinsic joy and curiosity for life. Apart from working with children I spend a lot of time painting, doing yoga, and dancing. I am very content with the simple life. I feel a calling to slow down and soak in this extraordinarily vast and brilliant world and I feel an agency to serve the world and work towards healing.

Below I have posted info from my Teachers Resume :

How children are met and cared for in childhood lays the foundation for the adult they will be in the world. As a teacher I take this responsibility seriously. Young children are diligent observers and every moment spent with them should be worthy of imitation. Teachers must model self-respect and respect for others. Above all, I believe the most important role as a teacher is to serve as a stable source of love and security during these tender years of development. This means valuing the child's voice, opinion, and unique way of learning, and supporting and being present with them as they discover themselves and their world.
As an adult and teacher, I am always learning from my young students. Children demand my presence and help remind me of my intrinsic curiosity for life. I am fascinated by the fresh mind and perspective of the child. Children are always looking to deepen their understanding of how the world works and they dive one hundred percent into each moment of their experience. These are precious qualities that are often overlooked in the education of children. I believe part of our role as teachers is to encourage and support the child’s curiosity and engagement with life.
I believe creative imaginary play is essential for healthy cognitive and social development. Through supported free play children learn to negotiate and cooperate, balancing initiative with compliance. Play is where children process all the new information they are absorbing on a day to day bases. Almost more importantly play allows children to indulge in the magic of their experience on earth and it is also one of the best outlets for them to express emotional terrain and self regulate. Play is the language children are fluent in. By observing play I feel I can get a window into the child's inner world and understand them on a deeper level.
My approach to childcare is founded on love for the child's authentic being. Through movement, storytelling, and creative activity, I hope to support children as they discover what it is to be in this world. As a teacher I take on the responsibility of facilitating a safe relationship and environment, to empower the child into their fullest potential.
