I'm Amelia! I grew up in upstate New York and live in Brooklyn NY currently. I'm a very hard-worker. I have a passion for learning new skills and enjoy being challenged by an ulterior way of thinking. I'm self-motivated, as an actor I share crucial stories and connect with others through the creation of unique, nuanced characters. I'm a deep thinker and enjoy expressing my creativity through different outlets like vegan baking, cooking, writing, and singing.

I'm interested in fluently speaking Spanish. I'm able to converse fairly well and get by but I would like to be highly proficient in speaking Spanish and pronunciation. In high-school I volunteered for best buddies which is a special-education program in which I kept other students company. I've always been the type of friend people ask help from. My mom is a teacher, so I grew up with her as an educator and would be interested in teaching myself.

I am a story-teller and a creative. English and writing was my favorite class growing up because I got to examine language and showcase my personality when reading aloud.

I am a bartender and a very good cook/baker. I became vegan a few years ago and started experimenting in the kitchen to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Cooking has always been fun and something that interests me because there are so many flavors and varieties of food combinations. When I cook for myself I feel a sense of pride, a reminder of home and a relaxed independence to take control and do what I want.

I was a weightlifter and dancer and now I've switched my athletic routine to yoga and running. I love staying active because it makes me feel the most energized and alive.

I'm a very patient, trusted person. I babysit and dog-sit/pet-sit frequently when friend's and family need a hand or are away.

I have my driver's license and am able to drive.

Vom Workawayer (Amelia) für Host (Musical family looking for an ...)

Esta fue mi primero experiencia de trabajar fuera. Estoy muy agradecido y bendecido por haber sido recibido por una familia maravillosa. The hours were very reasonable and the boys had an organized routine which allowed a lot of free time and flexibility(4-5 hours day). Two days a week I would spend only with Danny while Martin had music practice.… read more At first Danny spoke little English but as we were together for two months he became more fluent in communicating in English and questioning what words mean. I think that he benefited from the time away from his brother those days because it meant he had to put more effort to speak with me instead of relying on Martin to hold conversations. Martin amazed me with his English, he is very clear at expressing himself. I was very impressed by their behavior, they truly are good kids who are curious and energetic.

On the weekends I made trips with the family, enjoying different scenery, smaller towns and enriching myself in traditional life there. Venturing to the city center was very accessible which allowed for a balance between the home’s peaceful farmland to more lively surroundings with lots to do from going out to eat, shopping and getting more of a cultured experience. Gema and Rafa were amazing hosts and so conscious of their environmental impact. It was so refreshing to see people care so much, they opened me up with warm arms to their extended family and close friends. Hearing conversations and practicing my Spanish when the family was home increased my fluency and confidence. I definitely felt like an older sister and loved taking the boys to the local park, we played sharks and minos there frequently when we weren’t playing with Lego’s.

I was hesitant about coming, being vegan but the family catered perfectly to my needs. And all of the meals cooked by Rafa were totally veggie friendly and healthy. Before I left Danny helped me bake a delicious pumpkin cake. After my trip, I’ve gained an immense appreciation for classical music. Hearing the cello played as I woke up and the excitement of the boys to play made me feel present and at home. Plane trips to other locations in Europe were inexpensive, I took a two weekend trips to Madrid and Barcelona and the family was very accommodating. I was taken care of and then some. This experience was something I’ll remember forever, I hope to keep in touch throughout the years to come.

vom Host (Musical family looking for an ...) für Workawayer (Amelia)

Amelia stayed with us for two months. She was kind, nice, always on time, very affectionate with the children and very smiling.
She helped us with the homeworks of the kids.
Thank you for coming Amelia. We were very happy with you.
