While in Italy, I would love to do artsy things, spend time exploring the Italian Riviera, Florence, Rome - museums, art, the local cuisine and would also enjoy learning Italian along the way!

Beschreibung

I am Manya, a nature lover, artist, natural dye educator and writer.

I am originally from Hyderabad in southern India. I studied abroad in the United States - at the University of Virginia, with a dual degree in Business and Arts.

I love using my hands and creating with nature. Nature is my biggest inspiration and I’ve been working with natural dyes - on fabrics, food and making my own paints and more over the last 4 years. I’ve also been teaching this skill to thousands of people and would be happy to do a private class for you and your family when I visit.

I now travel across India and the world sharing my love for nature and natural colours with people.

3 things you should know about me -

1. Connecting with nature and helping other people reconnect with nature brings me a lot of happiness.

I do this through facilitating playful and engaging experiences, inviting adults and kids to fall in love with nature’s colours all around them.

Being the youngest in my family, I have many nephews and nieces that I love to play with and do nature-based arts, crafts and activities with. When the kids were bored during the pandemic in 2020, I engaged them everyday with Nature Play and they fell in love with it!

2. I am enthusiastic about living a life as close to nature as possible- in my free time, I explore concepts such as natural living, natural building and am keen to learn more about permaculture.

3. I enjoy learning new languages and immersing in new cultures.

When I travel, I am always looking to explore the art, culture, natural beauty, local traditions and cuisine of a place. I love to pick up the language, do what the natives do and see the place through their eyes.

Main things to know about me -
I am creative, resourceful, adaptive, flexible and above all - excited to get to know you and how I can contribute to your life and/ or work.

My background is in business, art, design and education. I have worked across various fields and gained skills in marketing, communication, customer service, community relations, user research, user experience (UX) design, etc.

I am a natural with groups, gatherings, organising and planning events, creative programs, workshops and transformative experiences for people across different age groups.

I have a diverse skill set and I always love a good challenge. Although my preference would be to help via my areas of strength, I’m quite flexible and can help with admin tasks, things around the house, etc.

I am looking to make meaningful connections and contribute in the following ways through a Workaway experience —

1. Content Writing- As a writer and someone who has been running their brand on social media, I can help with content writing, copywriting, storytelling and effectively communicating an your / your organisation’s offerings as per the target audience. I already do this for individuals and brands.

2. Language Practice- I am fluent in English and am at an Intermediate level in Spanish. I can help with practicing English and would love an opportunity to practice my Spanish as well. I have also done Spanish tutoring in college - so I am fairly good at helping people with languages.

3. Nature Play - As someone who appreciates the healing power of nature and play, I love engaging kids and adults in activities, foraging walks, exploratory art that brings them closer to nature.

I would be happy to spend time with kids in nature and guide them to discover the magic of the natural world and its colours. In the process, they would develop their curiosity, observation, imagination, creativity, expression - all while being in nature and away from screens!

4. Natural Dyeing - If you would like to explore natural dyes in any capacity- be it dyeing and upcycling your own clothes, making your own paints for fabrics, paper or walls - I am happy to dye clothes for you and / or teach you and help you switch from toxic chemical dyes to natural dyes. I’ve been doing this for over 4 years now.

5. Photography / Videography / Website Support - I can be an extra set of eyes and hands to help you document your projects / work and build a digital presence

6. Hands-on projects and Art - As an artist, maker and sculptor, I also love tinkering and building things with my hands. I’m happy to help with artistic / aesthetic / DIY projects and beautification. We could build something out of waste or paint a mural - I’m up for it all!
