Beschreibung

Looking for volunteer opportunities to work on Strawbale or any natural house building or renovation projects. Ideally around Europe, or worldwide. I am passionate and motivated about natural buildings especially straw bale, cob and lime and plan to build my own eco house. I also have a lot of practical renovation work skills having owned various old properties and have commercial building management experience.

I am also very interested in learning more about Permaculture and I have also been gardening for a long time.

I am planning to eventually buy a property in Europe build my own eco home and smallholding. But I am undecided where I would like to settle so I am also hoping to use Workaway to explore new parts of Europe.

I am fairly health conscious, like keeping fit (yoga and gym) swimming, cycling, walking and cooking. I am a fairly relaxed, positive and easy going person but also hardworking and conscientious. I love good conversation and generally get along with most people.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have experience in the following; some carpentry (decking and cupboard building), plastering and pointing (lime and cement), basic electrics (swapping switches and sockets), basic plumbing (copper solder joints and compression, fitting/changing taps) painting (lime wash, emulsion and oil). I have attended courses in straw bale construction and Ben Law's round wood timber framing course but I would really now like to get some hands-on experience in foundations, frame building, bale raising, plastering and other elements of eco building. More recently, I've been helping clay plaster a bale house. Fairly good at most things as I have renovated a number of properties. For a living I worked in commercial building management.
