    [Jessica]
I grew up in Guatemala but I was born in the USA. This gave me the opportunity to start learning languages and traveling at a young age. I always dreamt of studying abroad so after finishing high school I moved to Germany. There, I lived and worked in several cities until completing my studies in Political Science and English. Later on I completed an MA in Intercultural Conflict Management in Berlin, where I have been living for the past 7 years.

While growing up I was in touch with different cultures, however, moving to Germany and meeting other international students allowed me to truly broaden my horizon. Since then I have taken every chance I had to travel. I visited many European countries and had longer stays in Argentina, Bolivia, Israel and China. I deeply enjoy learning about other cultures, and I am passionate about social and ecological projects. I’ve also worked and volunteered at several NGOs, for instance in Guatemala, I worked with indigenous women in cultural center aiming to preserve traditional hand weaving. In Berlin I volunteered at an Art project, taught migrant women how to ride bicycles, and managed volunteers for the food bank.

Spending time in nature, whether it is cycling, hiking, swimming or simply enjoying the sunrays and a scenic view, makes me feel grounded and at peace. Animals always make me smile :) I love watching them in their natural habitat but I will also pet every cat and dog that comes my way! I've had my fare share of pets in the past to know I am good with animals and I pet-sit for friends whenever I can.

I also enjoy practicing yoga, dancing, pottery making, and diverse DYI projects at home. I am always keen on learning new handcrafts! I have also become very interested in plants, their medicinal properties and their use as natural dyes. In Berlin, I can't keep a garden, but I have a small collection of plants that I treasure a lot.

My cravings for Latin American food and the lack of good restaurants got me into cooking, as I needed to recreate my favorite dishes in Germany, However my taste (and hopefully skills :D) have now expanded to the middle Eastern and Chinese cuisine.

    [Marc]
I grew up in a French-Iranian family in southern Germany. After high school, I left home to travel for a year and spent most of the time in Australia and New Zealand, where I worked on farms, in campervan rental companies, as a waiter and salesman. I fell in love with meeting people from all over the world and knew it would not be the last trip - and here we are :-)

As I am good with physics and numbers, I studied mechanical engineering and financed my studies while teaching mathematics, physics and English - and eventually ended up in Berlin in 2015.
After having worked in the car industry, I switched to the German railway operator, where I had projects with new mobility startups. My love for bikes and nature led to me co-founding my own startup for electric cargo bikes. Unfortunately, we didn't make it through the 2022-2023 crisis and had to close down the company in April 2023.

In my free time, I love to cook food from around the world, take pictures and videos of people and nature, and eventually create my own vacation films.
I try to give back wherever I can, so I volunteered at different organizations like the food bank, a local traffic safety organization or by building a new plant garden for an non-profit-organization.
Jessi and I also volunteered at an animal rescue organization where we helped street dogs find a new owner by taking care of them until the organization found a home for them.

I also like to move a lot: Running, riding the bike, playing football, volleyball, hiking or snowboarding - as long as it involves getting exhausted, I am in ;-)

And if you want to know a secret: I LOVE singing! I don't have a voice from heaven, but I definitely win on PlayStation's Singstar - and I have no shame proving this during a Karaoke night :-)
I am also always looking for some foreign hip hop beats that I can pickup during my travels. The last very remarkable ones have been shared with me while I was on vacation in Albania.

    -----------------------------

Altogether, we form a very versatile couple and share a common set of values like honesty, fairness, equality and sustainability. We don't need much to be happy and find joy in the small things life has to offer.

Our usual jobs might have been focusing more on computer work, but we both also enjoy handcraft (whether it is small repairs on our bicycles or building furniture for our flat), working with people no matter their age or background, and also physical outside-work (gardening, animals, building).
And if we can do this while sharing what we already know with you, we'll be more than happy!

We are here to grow, learn more about your culture, share ours, make friends and enjoy life together - looking forward to meeting you! :-)
