Hi there! I'm Joao. I'm a sports teacher and copywriter with a love for the outdoors.
This is my first experience with Workaway and I'm very excited for it! Scandinavia always attracted me for its culture and natural beauty and i'm really looking forwards to interact with locals and explore the nature.

I used to be an athlete in decathlon and javelin throw and afterwards in orienteering and trail running. I've always been very active, currently I've been doing a lot of hiking, biking, climbing, camping, or just exploring nature in general. Last fall I did my first long solo bike trip from Lisbon (where I've been living for the lat 7 years) to Italy wild camping and sometimes being hosted by amazing generous people. It took me 1 month and a half and it was an amazing experience. Being active and outdoors for most of the time makes me very happy and I felt as healty as ever, so my goal is to do the same again but this time working with Workaway hosts.

I'm into meditation, yoga and Stoicism. And I love learning more and more about it.

I have a background in tourism as well, working in different jobs, like receptionist, front desk for different companies, and also as a hiking and biking tour guide, taking groups for week long tour all over Portugal. I'm planning to open my own hiking and biking trip company here in Portugal after my travels. I learn quickly, work hard, and am proactive. I'm a very calm and friendly person who loves a good conversation or just contemplating a nice view in silence.

My goal is to immerse myself in the diverse environments of Sweden and Norway, contribute meaningfully, and build meaningful connections with both hosts and other Workawayers. I am flexible with tasks and always ready to lend a hand. I am looking to do manual work, primarily outdoors, preferably around nature or animals, while also dedicating a couple of hours a day to my remote work. I look forward to meeting you. Was könntest du arbeiten?

I can do any kind of outdoor work, including gardening, farming, animal care, construction, etc. I have some sailing experience and I'm good with manual work and don't mind (even enjoy) intense physical labour. As I also have experience as a tour guide, I'm confortable working with people and with any tourism-related activities if necessary. I currently work with children from 6 to 17 yo as a phisycal education teacher and adventure councelor and as a part time copywriter (which I'll be doing during my travels).

I love being playful, mindful and enjoying the little things. Absolutely love boardgames and Catan is currently my favourite one. I'm also recently very interested in yoga and acroyoga.
