Beschreibung

Hi!
We are Mia and Helin, a couple from Germany. We are both open-minded, adventurous and creative people with a love for the environment, people, art, music, literature and animals.
As two people from different cultural backgrounds who live together, cultural exchange is a natural part of our everyday life that we both value a lot. We also both love kids and have a lot of experience with them.

In 2024 we stayed in Ireland for six weeks as workawayers and had an amazing time. We volunteered with cleaning, tidying up, child-minding, gardening, household tasks and building a house with ecological materials among other things. For 2025 we are looking to workaway in Malta for six weeks.

Mia:
I am studying to be an elementary school teacher. I love working with people, animals and being creative.
For my degree I have to spend some time abroad in an English-speaking country. That's why we have decided to do some workawaying in Malta, a country which we both have wanted to visit for a long time.

Helin:
I'm studying Social Economics and have worked all kinds of different jobs before: f.e. babysitting, waiting tables, taking care of elderly people or at a grocery store.
I love cooking and gardening.

We are flexible, easy-going people, open to all different kinds of hosts and opportunities to volunteer. We would love to get to know new people, immerse ourselves in a new culture and experience a different way of life than our own. We are also both very responsible and always happy to learn something new.

Since we are a queer couple it is important to us to stay with someone LGBTQ-friendly :)

Mia:
- workawayed in Ireland for six weeks, where I helped building an eco-friendly house, doing things such as making cob, building & isolating walls, and also helped with things such as child-minding, cleaning, tidying up, weeding, cooking and other household tasks
- I have done a volunteer service at a school for teenagers with special needs for 9 months
- have done multiple internships at elementary & special ed schools
- have been working at schools for the past 4 years & gained lots of experience teaching there
- love painting, writing & working with people
- experience riding, taking care of horses, mucking stables etc.
- a little experience with other farm animals, mainly cows & chicken
- Math, English & German are my subjects as a future teacher, so I have knowledge in these fields
- a bit of gardening experience, but would love to learn more

Helin:

- math & business skills from studying Social Economics
- worked at restaurant as a waitress

Mia: I love drawing, painting and writing.
Helin: I love crocheting and sewing.
We both read a lot and love being outside in nature. We also both like yoga and exercising. Only Helin has a driver's license.
