Hey, there! My name is Hannah and I am currently studying English and American Studies in Vienna, Austria. I am very passionate about travelling and learning about other cultures and ways of life. One year ago I spent a semester abroad in London on a very diverse and international University campus, which was the most exciting and interesting experience of my life so far. Back in Vienna, I became a language buddy to international students from all over Europe and the US who come to Austria to learn German in an immersive environment. I thoroughly enjoy these cross-cultural encounters, the language exchange and showing other students around Vienna, thereby getting to explore my hometown in a very new way from a tourist point of view. My motivation for being on workaway is to experience daily life beyond the normal tourist experience in new places across the world, meet interesting people and make new friends!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I am a social, outgoing person with a huge love for children, animals and nature. As the older sister of two siblings and the oldest cousin in the family, I grew up with a lot of experience in childcare and babysitting. So it does not surprise that I decided to gather some first work experience in that field as well. From an early age, I did tutoring, worked as a workshop referee in primary schools and spent one month at a summer job in a kindergarten as an assistant preparing food and playing with the little ones.
Furthermore, I have some experience in teaching German and English as I volunteer as a language buddy with international students at my university. I enjoy writing, both fiction and non-fiction in my free time. For this reason, I participated in a project by a youth editorial office for which I wrote texts about human rights and present-day societal concerns that interest me, like climate change or children's and women's rights.
I am reliable, orderly and enjoy helping others and being productive :).

Was noch ...

I am a quiet, introverted person who needs a lot of time to myself to recharge. During these times I like to go for long walks or runs in nature, read a good book or start creative projects, like photo albums of past journeys, journals or little self-made birthday presents. I also really love to cook and take an active interest in nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, trying out new recipes and baking little treats for when I need something sweet.
However, while I enjoy spending time on my own, I need quality time with friends and family just as much. In company, I enjoy going to cafes and just talking for hours, visiting museums and art galleries, going to vintage stores, the theatre, a concert, or for a hike in the beautiful Austrian Alps. Generally, I would describe myself as an interested, open-minded person who is open to trying out about anything (except for skydiving maybe, I really don't like heights ;).
