Hi, my name is Ferdinand and I am from Munich, in the South of Germany. I finished high school in May 2023, after spending 2 years in the United Kingdom to do the International Baccalaureate. This experience has caused me to become a more internationally-minded person, with a drive to explore the world we live in. Additionally, I would also like to help people while doing so, for example through volunteering work, to sort off "give back" the world something. Together with my friend Toshi, we decided to take a year off after school to do this, and are hoping to have an unforgettable but also enriching experience. I would say that I am a motivated, flexible, and social person. I love pushing myself into new experiences and also love working together with people!


Hi, my name is Toshi and I am also from Munich. I finished high school in May 2023 and got my educational high-school diploma from the Gisela-Gymnasium in Munich. After 12 years of school, I decided that I do not want to go directly to university, but rather take a gap year, as I feel this is something I am truly passionate about and a once-in-a-lifetime experience from which I will greatly benefit. This I want to do together with my childhood friend Ferdinand. We aim to expand our horizons while travelling to other countries and doing charity work, hopefully seeing life from a different perspective. I would say that people see me as a creative, open, dedicated and social person.

From having done English at school or having lived in the UK and going to school there, both of us speak English fluently. As we both recognize the importance of English in these days, we are motivated to teach others English, to help them acquire this important skill.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Ferdi:
During high school, I was a charity prefect. My job was to come up with, organize and execute different projects aimed at raising money for charity. These projects included selling doughnuts, organizing a charity FIFA tournaments and others. For example, we raised funds for the victims of the earthquake in Turkey.
I have experience in working in an office job for a couple weeks in the summer of 2022. The company is focused on renovation and management of real estate. I learned daily procedures and tasks at the office, such as accounting and research. I also improved how to work best in a team.
To my abilities I would count organization, working and communicating with people, research, working with kids, and learning new skills quickly. I am used to helping around the house at home, for example in the garden through mowing the lawn or helping with other work.
I speak German and Czech as my mother languages, and fluently English from my time in the UK. I also understand some degree of French from having done that for 4 years in school.
From my time in the UK, I also learned how to be independent and find around on my own, due to having been there without my parents. This also taught me flexibility in how I can adjust to different situations.


Toshi:
I would say my skills are working in a team and helping others. During the covid pandemic, I worked in a covid-testing centre. This experience taught me how important team collaboration is and how to manage stressful situations and how to operate in a team. I also have experience in a home office job, I was in a team of students that helped a German department store transfer information to a new website. I am currently working for a pharmacy, where my job is to deliver medicine to elderly people that are not able to buy them on their own due to health issues.
My mother language is German, but I am also fluent in English. I also speak Spanish and French to some degree, due to having done it in school.
My abilities are that I am a quick learner, open to new experiences, and good at working with other people. I have a very positive stands towards learning new skills. I also think I am good at communicating with other people.

Was noch ...

I love playing sports, mainly football but also tennis and basketball. Occasionally I also go for a run. Music was always one of my passions, having played the piano for more than 10 years and also having some experience playing the guitar. Generally, I am always open for learning new hobbies and love learning new stuff!
