Hello there! I am a journalist from Vancouver, Canada looking to spend some time in Spain and France this June and July. This spring I will be finishing my master's degree, so this is a celebratory trip for me, and a chance to stretch and get out and see the world again! I'm really looking forward to stepping away from my computer for a while and connecting with new places and people before I head back to work full-time.

This is my fourth time visiting Europe but my first time doing a Workaway! It's something I've always wanted to do and now feels like the right time.

In terms of what I can offer during my stay, I love to cook and have lots of experience with children and teenagers (I babysat all throughout my teenage years and used to be a youth worker), as well as experience with cats and dogs. I have some experience with gardening, landscaping, painting, baking, and English tutoring. My work experience has been quite diverse, and I consider myself to be quite adaptable.

I've spent most of my life in cities, but I spent three years living in a very small mountain town in the interior of British Columbia, two of which were spent on a sixteen-acre piece of land that required lots of upkeep. I came to really enjoy rural living, and I've since wanted to learn more about food processing, farming and permaculture, building, and different ways of living.

In my downtime, I am often reading, writing, cooking, hanging with friends, or hiking. I grew up near the mountains so I'd love to explore some new mountain ranges. Personality-wise, I'd call myself an introvert who loves people and really values meaningful connections!

My native language is English, but I can read, write, and speak basic French. It's something I'd love to get better at. I would also love to pick up Spanish as my only experience with it is through DuoLingo.

I'm really looking forward to chatting with you, and hopefully meeting you this summer!

I worked as an English tutor for a while and have some experience teaching written English (essay writing, etc.). I studied French in high school and have forgotten much of it since then, so I would love to work on improving my French! I'd also love to learn Spanish as I've only learned a little bit through DuoLingo.
