Heyhey, I'm Markét (say like street market :),
from the beautiful Czech republic in the heart of Europe. For over two years, I've been traveling alone with just my 35-liter backpack around the world. In every country I visit, despite the language barrier, I strive to get as close as possible to the local people, live with them, understand their culture, and its impacts on the environment. I have volunteered in my country and Europe, performed good deeds, and continue to do in the world. I choose my volunteer projects very carefully.

Volunteering for me is about understanding countries and people a bit better, learning, but also sharing my own experiences and ideas, seeing the values of others, gratitude, and helping.


WHO I AM?
At first glance, I may seem like a city girl, but don't be fooled... Sleeping outdoors, cooking over a fire, trekking thousands of kilometers alone in the wilderness with grizzlies, and facing all sorts of natural elements are the sparks of my journeys. My travels are usually very uncomfortable, wild, and adventurous - alone in mountains or jungles…

Despite my wild experiences, I am very organized, independent, reliable, quiet, mindful of cleanliness, and project completion. I can come up with ideas for improvement, modification, or new projects.

Professionally, I am a UX Designer and project manager, which in life means: I am empathetic, I do practical things tailored to fit, I think logically, I look for ways to achieve results, and I am open to new possibilities.

• MY VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCES •
I worked as a photojournalist for the Center for Eco-culture Studies during government research. I assisted at a wildlife health center. I also did photo reports for a tea plantation, where I went through the entire tea production process, and for a cinnamon plantation, where I saw cinnamon oil production. In Thailand, I helped abandoned and injured dogs at a dog shelter and worked on a family farm with animals and furniture building. At a coconut and bamboo farm in Cambodia, I helped with cultivation and bamboo preparation for building houses. In Vietnam, I assisted at a coffee farm, in Morocco at a family surf hostel. I make decorations and photographed a surf resort in Sri Lanka. In Peru, I helped with gardening, phototraps and to guard a nature reserve and a Peruvian family with traditional Christmas decoration. In Chile, I worked with gardening and animals on a family farm, and in Argentina, I participated in reforesting the jungle in a nature reserve...

I took care of and guard nature reserves and homes with gardens and animals. I always treat your property as if it were my own.

• GARDEN AND HOME DESIGN •
I have designed and built furniture, decorations, and decorations for social events. I love hard working in the garden and decorating. I am very handy, creative, and have a sense of aesthetics and detail.

• PHOTOGRAPHY •
I have photographed music concerts, theater performances and festivals, seaside resorts, and products. I focus on nature, detail, and moments.

For two years I worked as a volunteer at a dog shelter and for almost ten years I volunteered to help raise the level of cultural events in Česká Lípa and its surroundings: music, theatre, festivals, balls, fundraising events, etc. Mainly as a creative (costumes and set design), co-organizer/organizer and photographer.

I have an eye for aesthetics and design. I like to design elegant and cozy living spaces. I have designed and made a lot of things for my apartment myself - bar table, bookcase, chest of drawers, etc. I also design apps (ux design). I also have an eye for detail, which I use in photography and post-production.

I enjoy: photography, volunteering, being interested in the environment, culture, design, technology. I also like to relax by watching movies, hiking, climbing or completely switch off by enjoying the beauty of nature.

My time and experience are the most valuable things I can offer. I often have to invest money to reach my host's location, which is not always an attractive location or easy to reach, and the host's living conditions do not always offer comfort - it is a risk and an extra expense for me. I do not volunteer for a photo on Instagram or an experience, or a free bed. I volunteer because I think it makes sense... I am happy when I see that the host appreciates the volunteer's time and value and treats them with respect like their own guest or family, living and eating the same as the volunteer offers...
