I completed 4 months of volunteering in a school in Honduras and I had an unforgettable, amazing time, an experience I´ll never forget! Then I backpacked through Belize, Guatemala and El Salvador for a month before volunteering in a hostel in Nicaragua for a month. Now I'm in Peru, teaching English in a local school in the mornings and Music in an arts school in the afternoons in Quillabamba, a town five hours north of Cuzco.

Next I will be travelling to Colombia where I am looking for a volunteer placement near Cartagena., I'm looking for opportunities to work in the hospitality industry, as well as teaching English and/or Music and community work. I speak fluent Spanish and English, and I am ready for my next challenge! See below for more about me.

In English:

I am looking for volunteer work in my gap year before university, in which I can become part of a local community, helping children through teaching English and/or Music, and helping out families in daily chores (for example, on a farm or in community projects). I am particularly interested in living in a rural environment and getting to know a culture that is different to my own.

I was born and grew up in Spain, of British/American parents, so I am bilingual in Spanish and English. I am a musician (piano, violin, drums and basic guitar) and am about to study History and Spanish at university. I have had experience travelling in India, Nepal, Colombia, Malaysia and Thailand while backpacking with my family over the past few years. When they were young, my parents volunteered in different disadvantaged communities in Asia and wanted my sister and me to see the world through different eyes from an early age. Now that I'm embarking on this next chapter in my life, I am keen to become a part of a community where I can share my skills, help out in whatever ways I can, and also learn about a different culture and make friends with people from another part of the world. I feel prepared for basic living standards and welcome the opportunity to expand my horizons through experiencing a different culture and way of life.

I have experience teaching English, piano, drama and swimming to kids of all ages.

En Español:
Busco trabajo voluntario en mi año sabático antes de la universidad, en el que pueda formar parte de una comunidad local, ayudando a niños enseñando inglés y/o música, y ayudando a las familias en las tareas diarias (por ejemplo, en una granja o en proyectos comunitarios). Me interesa especialmente vivir en un entorno rural y conocer una cultura diferente a la mía.

Nací y crecí en España, de padres británicos/americanos, así que soy bilingüe en español e inglés. Soy músico (piano, violín, batería y guitarra básica) y voy a estudiar Historia y Español en la universidad. He tenido experiencia viajando por India, Nepal, Colombia, Malasia y Tailandia mientras viajaba de mochilero con mi familia durante los últimos años. Cuando eran jóvenes, mis padres fueron voluntarios en diferentes comunidades desfavorecidas de Asia y querían que mi hermana y yo viéramos el mundo con ojos diferentes desde una edad temprana.

Ahora que me estoy embarcando en este próximo capítulo de mi vida, tengo muchas ganas de formar parte de una comunidad donde pueda compartir mis habilidades, ayudar en todo lo que pueda y también aprender sobre una cultura diferente y conocer gente de otra parte del mundo. Me siento preparado para niveles de vida básicos y agradezco la oportunidad de ampliar mis horizontes experimentando una cultura y una forma de vida diferentes. Tengo experiencia enseñando inglés, piano, natación, y teatro a niños de todas las edades.

Fluent Spanish and English speaker.
I´m a PADI certified Open Water Diver.
I have completed the Bronze and Gold Awards for the Duke of Edinburgh scheme (I have gone on survival courses and expeditions, done volunteer work in my community, and learnt new skills in order to pass these awards).
I have an advanced level of piano and violin.
I play drums.
I have a basic level of guitar and ukulele.
I have taught piano to students between the ages of 6 and 16.
I have travelled in Central and South America, Asia and Europe on a budget.
I have done a lot of acting and played lead roles in plays and musicals.
I have participated in three Model United Nations conferences, and won "Best Speaker" in Barcelona (2022)
I love hiking, travelling, reading, acting, making music, and playing ping pong and tennis.
