I'm Amy & I'm currently traveling Central America while completing the rest of my studies in sustainable tourism. Through my studies & from experience, I know that I what I want from my travels is actually living in a place, getting to know the area & the people as well as serving a purpose or contributing to a project rather than ticking off the "10 places you must visit".

I am a social person & I like good company, but sometimes it takes me a bit to really open up, which is human I guess:) Truly connecting with people is one of my favorite things, when you can share laughter & tears or talk about all the things that are going on in your mind. For some reason, that's so much easier while traveling, maybe because we step out into this world & attract the right people that match our energy ☼

I also love to spend a lot of time in nature. Be it the feeling of my feet touching the soil, feeling the structure of a leaf or the sun on my skin, it all has a very grounding effect & makes me appreciate every small moment of life, no matter how simple or ordinary it seems.

As a form of being outside & active at the same time, I discovered surfing a few years ago. Being out in the water makes me realize how small the part is I take in this world & how powerful nature is. But when you take your time to observe & learn how to be one with her, you're able to dance with the waves. Besides that, I love to get creative in whichever form is possible at the moment. I write my own poems & I just started working on creating my own magazine at some point. I also have a lot of fun building things, so I'm down to help with some cool projects.

To really submerge in a new culture, it is important to know the language. Since I'm going to travel in Central & South America for at least the next year, my biggest goal is to get fluent in Spanish. I do speak it a bit, but during my time in the hostel I couldn't really improve because the majority of guests were not spanish-speaking. Soo I'm looking forward to be thrown into situations where I'm forced to speak Spanish!:) Of course I'm happy to help improving other peoples language skills:)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have a lot of experience in the field of tourism & hospitality. Besides some business related knowledge, I learned a lot about social and environmental problems that come along with tourism. I think traveling is something great, but it still has to be changed al lot to make the overall impact more positive. I've worked in a hotel & a guesthouse in New Zealand a few years ago & I just finished my 20 weeks internship for university, which I spent in a hostel in Ecuador. I've learned a lot about daily operations in this field & during my internship I was even trusted with managing the place for 2 weeks!

I also helped building a Skatepark for Locals here in Ecuador, which made me super happy every evening I came back from the construction site. Doing physical work & seeing the results feels very rewarding to me (especially seeing the people use after it was done). I am willing to do physical work & give my best
