Hey, I'm Alex! I'm 27 years old, and wanting to spend more time away from England (blame the weather). I'm looking to travel, develop skills (particularly DIY and eco-farm), meet new people, and take some time to grow.

I spent four years working as a Children's Social Worker, and now work as a tutor, so I love spending time with kids. As a tutor I teach English, Literature, History, and Creative Writing, and I'm super happy to provide lessons. I've spent time working in and managing summer camps so I'm always up for getting group activities going or coming up with something craftsy to do. I absolutely love animals, and used to be a full time dog sitter, so looking after one animal or two or fifteen is all good with me. I have experience in hospitality and have spent time working in bars while at uni. Lastly, I'm a writer and an actor so if I'm not running about keeping busy I'll probably be reading a book or scribbling some words.

I'm at a point in my life where I'd like to step away from the treadmill and explore some other ways of living - I'm open to almost anything, and eager to learn. I'm passionate about helping others, but by the end of my time as a social worker I came to feel that I needed to get more out of the box in what I might be able to give back to the world, and how I engage with it. Empathy, kindness, and creativity are what matter most to me, and I'm hoping to meet like minded people.

I've now spent six months travelling through Latin America (mainly Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Colombia and Bolivia). I've volunteered in hostels, worked in a turtle hatchery, and volunteered in a wildlife rescue center in the Amazon. From here in I'll be looking for workaways that I can volunteer at, while also working 2-4 hours a day online tutoring, ideally in a space without too much noise disruption.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I studied English at university, so am extremely happy to provide lessons in literature, language, or writing. I can also tutor in history and philosophy, as well as providing drama lessons. For younger students I'm happy to teach maths also.

I absolutely adore being around animals and have cared for a variety of pets, as well as spending time with horses, cows and pigs when I was younger.

I'm looking to develop eco-farming skills as well as DIY. I have some limited experience around this in the past (chopping wood, putting up fences etc.) but am keen to work hard and pick things up quickly!

I enjoy running group activities, swimming, paddle-boarding/kayaking, football and almost anything active and social
