Hello! My name is Alasdair and I have worked as an English as a Foreign Language teacher for most of the last 28 years. I lived in Thailand for over 8 years, Oman for 4, Saudi Arabia for 2.5 years, Spain (In Algeciras and Arrasate / Mondragon) and Mexico for a year each. I speak fluent Spanish and Thai and can speak a bit of French (I would like to improve my French). My first degree is a BA (Hons) in Latin American Studies, I also hold an MSc Water and Environmental Management.

In 2012 I took refuge as a Buddhist in Northern Thailand and am an experienced meditator. Mostly I practice mindfulness with breathing (anapanasiti) and creative visualisations. I'm in the process of creating course materials to use journaling and creative visualisations for habit change.

Until May 2022 I was a single parent raising my daughter, but now she is 22 years old and living independently I am free to pursue my dream of living off-grid, I am now travelling again and ideally would like to gain experience living on an ecovillage / intentional community using permaculture methods.

In 2020 I worked on an organic farm in Scotland, in 2022 at an organic farm in France and I've worked at an organic farm in Badminton (England - near Bristol) on three separate occasions. I'm looking to gain more experience of working on organic farms, particularly in France and Spain. I have a total of about three months experience working on organic farms.

I've been a teacher for almost 25 years with foreign students aged 5-85 and most of my skills relate to teaching English. I've wwoofed on farms in Scotland and England and in France. I speak Spanish, Thai and a little French. I've raised a child to adulthood and have lived abroad for around 16 years. I've written a book and have made and edited videos for my YouTube channel.

I love to play backgammon and cards. I've played a variety of board games. I'm an experienced meditator and I used to have a lucid dreaming practice.
