Hi! My name is Maria Stella and I was born and live in Sicily. I work as a teacher and the subjects I have taught during these years are Italian, Latin, History and Geografy; ten years ago I switched from a regular high school to a night school for adults.
I would like to spend some time abroad to improve my english, so it would be great if I could do it while helping someone. And I like meeting people from all over the world. My pupils are from Italy, Africa, Asia, Europe, and it is good to work this way.
I think my english is basic at listening and speaking, while intermediate (or maybe pre-intermediate) at reading et writing. I passed the Trinity level B1 exam, but it was six years ago…
It is my first time trying to have such a new experience and I am a little excited. So what are my skills? Well, I’m available to help you as best I can with what you need. Apart from my experience as a teacher, what I can tell is that I’ve raised my son and I helped my brothers with their children; and I’ve helped my parents in painting their coutry house, when I was younger; and I’ve had cats and a dog for some time. I often help my partner in his field collecting fruits and wild vegetables and cutting dry branches. And I take care of my ninety years old mother. I think I can do other tasks too, if needed.
My hobbies? Well, I like reading, writing and dancing, also I like spending some time with my partner. I’ve loved the Harry Potter saga and the Twilight saga very much, also the Cormoran Strike books by J.K. Rowling.
I have a son, his name is Manuel and he is a fantastic young man who lives with his girlfriend in Padova, a beautiful town (quite far from Sicily) where he works as a researcher at University.
I only have availability for a week or so, around mid July. So, I hope meet you in July!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Mi sono già descritta nel mio profilo … Cosa posso aggiungere? Che posso insegnare la mia lingua madre, l’italiano. E anche le basi della lingua latina (il latino classico, intendo, quello di Cicerone e Cesare), se mai qualcuno fosse interessato. Mi piace accudire bambini; posso essere di buona compagnia e aiutare le persone. L’ostacolo principale credo sia linguistico: il mio livello di inglese è elementare, soprattutto nell’ascolto e nel parlare (con la lettura va un po’ meglio). L’esperienza Workaway mi interessa soprattutto per imparare meglio l’inglese.
