I am Valentina, 26 y.o from Italy. I am currently experiencing a (rather happy) transition period from my present job to new adventures this coming autumn. These adventures include returning to study, relocating, and changing careers. As I move on from my current work situation, I would like to seize the opportunity to try Workaway, an experience I have hoped to try for years but never had the time for.

At this time, what brings me happiness is the prospect of focusing more on myself and my personal growth beyond the professional sphere, something I feel I have somewhat neglected in recent years. I would like to improve my French, immerse myself in new situations, and enthusiastically embrace the forthcoming period of change. It would bring me joy to find a space where I can connect with nature, meet people I never imagined I would meet, and enjoy some peace and quiet away from the usual city routine to which I am accustomed and to which I will have to return soon. During this period of questioning certain assumptions in my life, particularly professional ones, I am especially excited by the idea of engaging with people who have different lifestyles from the one I have envisioned for myself so far. I hope to broaden my perspectives and gain a clearer understanding of what I want for my future.

I consider myself a rather creative, sensitive and introspective person. I enjoy cooking, with a particular preference for baking. I enjoy experimenting with different creative hobbies, in some of which I have more experience (such as creative writing and knitting), while others are quite new and to be explored further (such as ceramics and sewing). I appreciate folk dances, deep conversations and solitary walks in quiet settings.

I am used to communicating in English, as my work environment requires it, and I actually enjoy it a lot. As a native Italian speaker, I am available to speak both Italian and English to help others improve their language skills. I am particulatly interested in improving my French. I have been learning it on and off for several years but have never had the opportunity to use it regularly.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I can help around the house, particularly with cooking, general cleaning, and maintenance. I can also cook for you and teach you some typical Italian recipes. For those interested, I can provide lessons in Italian, my mother tongue, as I have several years of experience volunteering to teach Italian to foreigners. Currently, I work in EU project management, so I can share my knowledge about how European calls for proposals work in various areas and help create projects and raise funds through EU-funded initiatives.

In general, I am a quick learner and eager to help with anything I can learn, even if I lack direct experience. This includes tasks like growing crops and animal care.

Was noch ...

My current situation:
I am available to travel from approx. the 10th of August to the 8th of September (1 month). During this time, I will be working remotely and part-time (4/5 hours a day Mon to Fri with some flexibility over my working schedule). I only need a table where to work with my laptop and then I will be fully available to help my host during the rest of the day and in the week ends.

What I am looking for:
Improving my French while discovering lifestyles different from my own, as well as some rest in a peaceful setting.

Some random info about me:
I have a degree in literature and am currently trying to get back into the habit of reading after moving away from it. I deeply admire sports and art forms that require incredible control and full use of one's body, such as ballet and artistic gymnastics. On the same note, I am trying to delve into yoga and meditation to feel more in touch with my body and understand it better.
