My wife, Hong and I work as a team. We both enjoy nature, travel, new places and experiences. Hong is fluent in writing and speaking mandarin as well as having a good working knowledge of English. The sea is a particular favorite of ours. We have raised one daughter ( though it has been a long time since either have dealt with diapers) who has graduated from university and found a good mgt position in an energy company. We both are currently retired, I after 38 years with AT&T, Hong in business, accounting, mgt positions in both China and Oklahoma USA, and she is a Youtuber too, she likes reading, traveling and sharing the experience of life.
I love to garden, can, pickle, dry, juice, and ferment fruits and veggies from the garden and local markets and create new untried products for our consumption, like shrubs, vanilla extract, wine. I have been making wine for decades now with the leftovers from our garden. We both cook, myself typical American meals and Hong more traditional Asian stir-fry, noodle, rice based dishes. I love to fish, read, garden, cook, travel, some hiking, swimming, etc.
We both just finished an almost 5-month contract with Kenai Fjords Tours in Seward Alaska where we worked as cost service front desk agent and accounting cashier, respectively. We ate eager to begin our next adventure.Interessengebiete

I have always been a gardener, small scale of course in and around my urban home. We compost and both detest food waste. I am an avid food preserver. I water bath and pressure can what produce I am able to, make jams, jellies, wine, shrubs, kimchee, pickles, sauerkraut, sauces, and extracts. I also dry produce, make vegetable powders, ferment foods, steam juice fruits, and pretty much try my hand at anything that seems interesting as far as food preservation goes. I grow a number of fruit trees, fruiting shrubs, grapes, and the like, although last season we were out of state for the majority of the growing season.
Both I and my wife, Yonghong, cook. I bake bread with some success, but not always, and cook pretty much typical American meals, soups, stews, fish, meats, chowders, breakfast, sausage or bacon gravy, pancakes, eggs, etc. Hong cooks more stir fry, Asian, and rice-based dishes, and occasionally Asian-style dumplings. Not professional or fancy cooks but we do okay according to friends and family.
We have raised one daughter who has recently finished her degree and is now working at a great job with a Midwestern-based energy company.
We both enjoy travel, nature, and all aspects of the natural world. The sea is a particular favorite and joy of ours. We hike, sometimes fish and/or camp, and love the outdoors.
Hong speaks and writes English and is also fluent in speaking and writing Mandarin.
I retired last November after 42 years in the telecommunications industry, 38 years with At&T. Hong has worked primarily in business, accounting, executive secretary, company cashier, HR, and broadcasting positions, and has also earned a cosmetology certificate and is semi-retired herself. She is 10 years younger than I so for now we hope to take a few years off to travel and explore.
In September we will finish what amounts to about a 6-month contract with Kenai Fjord Tours in Seward Alaska where I worked as a front desk passenger service agent and Hong as a company cashier.
We are both hard workers hoping to expand our experience and learn new and interesting aspects of life we may not have witnessed or experienced before.
We have both traveled a bit, not extensively, as we have always worked full-time, but I have seen around 21 different countries over the years, a few weeks at a time of course, and Hong herself has done a fair bit also, either with me and our daughter, or on her own when living in China.Alter
