I'm a 40-year-old Belgian teacher who teaches Dutch and English in secondary school. I've studied Flemish sign language, French, German and Swedish as well. I'm interested in languages, travelling and getting to know a lot of people around the world. I especially like islands.
I was on a gap year from July 2015 to August 2016 and travelled to/Workawayed in Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Finland, Greenland and the Faroe islands. Enjoyed these new places, people and experiences!
I have worked as a teacher (sixteen years), camp counsellor (4 years), camp cook :) (10 years), bartender, lifeguard, cleaner, farmhand and host for tourists on a large organic farm for a couple of summer holidays.
Very interested to learn new things, to get to know people, and to experience life in a different country!Interessengebiete

I like to meet and get to know other people, but I'm comfortable being on my own. I have worked previously as an actor, bartender, cleaner, cook, lifeguard/cashier in the local swimming pool. During summer holiday I previously worked with tourists in the French speaking part of Belgium and have completed Workaways in Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Greenland and the Faroe islands.
I consider myself very flexible, but I like to know what I'm doing when I'm doing it. I don't have specific skills like horse back riding or building, so maybe that makes me a little bit of an allrounder? I'm fairly tall and strong, but not really experienced at handywork. I consider myself a quick learner though.
As a teacher I've learnt to get along with all kinds of people, and I like to help around wherever I'm needed. Because that makes me feel good :)Alter

I've been into amateur dramatics since I was younger. I write and direct plays for children and families, and occasionally act in someone else's play as well.
I used to play different sports (volleyball, badminton, swimming), now mainly go running or swimming. Would like to take up yoga. I hope I get to do more of that abroad.
I love quizzes and I'm quite good at remembering names and facts. I've been on five different television quiz shows in Belgium. Not an expert, though I love browsing Wikipedia for fun.
I'm interested in/fascinated by many things. In random order: northern lights, ghost towns, dogs, languages, cooking and baking, history, music by Beirut, islands, polar exploration, geography, stand-up comedy, killer whales, campfires, films with River Phoenix, solo travel, the sound of waves, didactics, books by Lionel Shriver, nature documentaries, crosswords and many more.Etwas mehr Information

We kind of feel spoiled only to have great workawayers, and Tim certainly didn't disappoint!
We hit it off from the beginning and the first thing we noticed was how easy he is to talk to, and as a big plus, he has a great sense of humor!
We had a lot of small projects when Tim came, and he was hands-on right away.

Tim is the most enjoyable person to be around. He is skilled in languages and actually learned some Icelandic whilst he was here. I gave him a roof over his head and it was the easiest task ever, he cared for my cats and maintained a neat surroundings.
Work wise he´s able and willing and the women that worked the most with him,… read more
