As a 22 year-old solo traveller, I feel very fortunate to be spending the year abroad in-between my studies, discovering so many new places/cultures/people as I go! I am excited by the possibility of immersing myself in your daily life, wherever that may be, if you’ll have me! I am of course fully vaccinated :)

I’ve always been fascinated by linguistics, and have previously taken subjects in inter/cultural communication. Over my past travels and previous 6 months abroad, I’ve encountered many languages unfamiliar to me, and have embraced the challenge of communication in these settings. I appreciate the difficulty in learning a new language, and if I am able to offer any assistance in English, it would be my pleasure.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

As a new member on this platform, I’m eager to kickstart my WorkAway journey. I’ve been travelling from Australia since April this year, spending time in Turkey, France, Italy, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia, Spain, Portugal, and most recently Ireland where half of my family reside. As I near the end of my travels, I’ve decided to try out the popular WorkAway experience and am excited by the endless possibilities :)

My work in at home in Melbourne is in the health sector, as a ward clerk in an Acquired Brain Injury unit. Balancing this role with full time university has taught me the strength of effective time management/organisation. Problem-solving has been essential to overcoming many of the adverse situations that arise in this high-intensity environment, allowing me to develop this valuable skill. I feel that I have built my confidence in working in both small and large teams, where communication is of paramount importance.

As someone who values family & close sibling relationships largely, I feel I can bring some warmth to your home. My experience in childcare (as a coach and school camp supervisor) has equipped me well in in directing younger students, and acting as a staff camp leader has taught me how to be responsible for others and calmly support students struggling both physically and mentally in these unfamiliar environments. I have always loved connecting with children of all ages, evident in the relationships I’ve built through babysitting and also my internship in occupational therapy.

Additionally, I have some previous experience in hospitality, serving customers in both bakeries & cafes, creating & maintaining positive customer/co-worker relations.

Was noch ...

I thrive off a balance of being surrounded by people and having occasional time to myself. I’m always always down to learn a new game of cards, or share one with others- I find this a lovely way to connect with people. I rely on a creative outlet whether it’s in the company of other people in say a project context, or sketching/painting/writing on my own. I look forward to sharing or taking on new hobbies anytime!
