We are currently preparing for our trip to Italy. We will arrive in Italy in April.

About us:
Søren and I decided last year that we wanted to do something different. We wanted a different life than the 9-17 life. We therefore quit our jobs and started planning our great Italien adventure! We want to experience an authentic Italian lifestyle, and we want to learn about the country, the culture, the language and everything else there is to learn. We are both new to Workaway, but we thought that this would be a perfect opportunity to connect with fellow minded people.
We both come from hardworking families and we are not afraid to get down and dirty. We both are very passionate about nature, and we would always choose farm life over citylife. We thrive in the peace and quiet of undisturbed nature, and we appreciate taking care of the nature around us. We are looking for workaways where we can immerse ourselves in nature and Italian culture. We want to be a part of everyday life, and to help as much as we can. We are practising Italien every day, so that we are as prepared as possible, and we are very interested in learning the language. We also would love to teach both English and/or Danish if that is something you are interested in.

Soren loves photography and videography travels with professional camera gear including lights and more.

Ciao! My name is Sophie and I'm 29 years old. I live in Denmark with my co-workawyer and boyfriend Søren. I have an education in International Hospitality Management and for the last couple of years I have worked as a meeting coordinator at a hotel called Comwell. Prior to this job I worked for several years as a waiter at various different restaurants around Denmark.
I have always had an interest in the hotel business, so my latest job as a meeting coordinator at a big hotel was a great fit, but I felt the need to experience more of the world and to have this great adventure with Søren, and therefore I quit my job in order to make this dream come true.
I come from a great big family, and I have seven amazing siblings. Because of the size of my family we have always been used to sharing, helping each other and to remember to always have a lot of patience. I have grown up in a small city by the ocean in the north of Denmark, and I have always had a special connection to the sea. Me and Søren currently live in a cabin close to the sea and surrounded by nature.
My biggest passions are traveling, reading, animals and nature. I have a big soft spot for dogs, and I have grown up with multiple dogs and other pets.
I have travelled to many different places. My longest trip was a backpacking trip alone in Australia. I was in Australia for 3 months. I have been to Italy multiple times in my life, and when I was 18 I worked as an au pair in the north of Italy with a Danish family. Italy speaks to me, and Im so ready to learn more about this beautiful country.

Hello
My name is Soren.
Im 30 years old and im Sophies boyfriend.
I grew up on a small (almost) self sufficient farm in a family of five. As long as I can remember my parents have been working on projects on the farm. Always expanding the garden, building outhouses of different kind, taking care of the animals and just trying to keep the family running. Of course they had me and my two brothers as helpers. We were from a young age “forced” to help out in the garden and with all the other various projects that they had in store. Today they and we are left with a pretty idyllic place if i would say it my self.

From the age of 22 until 30, this last year I have worked as a pedagogue at one of the independent schools in Aalborg. Its called. “Aalborg Friskole”.
Three years into this job position I was lucky enough to become the main pedagogue for the upcoming first graders and I have been in the class up until now where they are halfway through fifth grade.
The job involved being responsible for the well-being of the class and the individual students, together with the class teacher. I loved the job and all the people there but it was time for me and Sophie to start a new adventure.

Side jobs I've had in the past when going to school.
- Chicken farm: Did various different tasks in the chicken houses and on the farm in general.
- Delivery boy at the local bank: Tasks from counting money, paying checks and picking up cake.
- Waiter at two restaurants: I did this for three years.

My main hobby is photography and videography, which I hope to spend much more time on in the future.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

- House sitting. We have a lot of experience with house sitting. For the last tree years we have been house sitting the same house every summer.
When we decided we wanted to move to Italy house sitting was a good solution for us, and therefore we are currently house sitting a small cabin and have been here for 7 months.

- Gardening: Søren grew up on a farm, and therefore has a lot of experience with gardenwork. I (Sophie) have a great interest in gardening. We both have a big interest in sustainability.

- Animals: We both love animals, and would love to work with them.

- Childcare: We both have skills in child care. Both have been growing up with younger and older siblings.
Sophie has been an AuPair in Italy in a family with 4 children the age of 0-10.
Soren has been working as a pedagogue for 8 years with children ranging from the age of 5 to 12.
