Hi there! Nice to meet you!

We’re Seb and Sofia Vanian, a friendly and adventurous married couple (28 and 27 years old) who love traveling and experiencing new cultures. Two years ago, we went on a six-month backpacking trip that completely changed how we see life. After returning home to Switzerland and getting back to work, we realized that what we really want is to travel more—this time with a bigger purpose. We’re excited to meet new people, learn different skills, and get to know local cultures in a deeper way.

We’re hardworking, reliable, and always ready to learn. We also love being outdoors and are always up for an adventure.

Seb is French and Armenian, grew up in Switzerland, and speaks fluent French and English, as well as some Spanish. Sofia is Mexican and Italian and speaks Spanish, Italian, English, and French fluently. We both love meeting new people and sharing stories, and we enjoy connecting with people from all kinds of backgrounds.

We’re really into sports, especially hiking, and we’re always happy to try new activities. We met eight years ago in Switzerland while Sofia was working as an au pair to learn French. Our shared love for travel brought us together, and since then, we’ve visited 24 countries and had so many amazing adventures.

Seb is energetic, sporty, and loves anything adventurous. He’s also always joking around and making people laugh. Sofia is more calm and organized, which keeps us balanced, but she’s just as adventurous! With her language skills, she’s great at talking to people and making them feel comfortable.

We’d love the chance to join your Workaway project and help out however we can. Thanks so much for considering us—we’re really looking forward to meeting you!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

We bring a mix of practical, interpersonal, and organizational skills to any Workaway project! With fluency in multiple languages (Sofia speaks Spanish, Italian, English, and French; Seb speaks French, English, and some Spanish), we’re comfortable helping with communication, translation, or teaching. Through working for international companies, we’ve developed strong organizational skills, and planning our six-month backpacking trip—managing the budget, itinerary, accommodation, and transport ourselves—has made us highly resourceful and street-smart. We’re hardworking, reliable, and eager to learn new things, whether it’s physical tasks like gardening, household chores, or outdoor projects. Sofia’s experience as an au pair makes us great with childcare, while Seb’s love for sports and adventure adds energy to any setting. Friendly and sociable, we enjoy meeting new people, adapting to different environments, and working together as a team.

Was noch ...

Seb is passionate about football, climbing, and racket sports, but he’s always up for anything active or sporty. Sofia loves photography and enjoys experimenting in the kitchen. Together, we both love spending quality time with family and friends, especially over a good meal.
