Hiya, I’m Sammy, thanks for checking out my account :)
I'm a young recent university graduate with a passion for travelling, I love the amount of new people and experiences it opens me up to. I'm a big music fan and play jazz piano, I really like the potential for expression it gives. I usually live in the UK, but previously lived for a year in Tbilisi, Georgia, and am now travelling around South East Asia after finishing university. I’m looking to find workaway opportunities that offer more than the standard tourist experience, where I can really get involved with local communities, both to work with them and assist anyway I can, and to learn from people from different walks of life and cultures.

I'm a qualified English teacher, and used to teach English to Georgian and Russian students at FORM language school in Tbilisi. I studied Russian at University, and speak it to an intermediate level. I also speak Spanish at a roughly intermediate level, having studied in school and gained skills with it when backpacking Latin America. I’m now slightly more rusty, but would love to practice it some more again :).I also am interested in different lesser-spoken languages, and have really enjoyed learning bits of Georgian and Kyrgyz during my time in these countries.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

In the UK I've done indoor renovation, worked as an assistant tree surgeon, and before embarking on my current trip I was working full time in the hospitality sector as a waiter and bartender at a Thai restaurant, so I have lots of experience of how to host and welcome guests, and how to make sure they are attended to - with any requests or complaints sorted out with a smile. I have a younger brother, so have some experience of childcare and babysitting as well. I have also previously worked as an English teacher with FORM language school in Tbilisi. On previous workaways I've helped with tropical gardening and guesthouse renovation, as well as with a stray dog rescue centre. Outside of workaway I've also volunteered at a various music festivals.

Music is a big passion of mine, I’m a jazz pianist, love going to music festivals, concerts and clubs, either as a ticket holder or a volunteer. I have a big interest in listening to different types of music, and love that travelling means i can hear so many new sounds. I also really like animals, and have a family dog and cat back home in the UK. I love workaway for the possibilities it opens for new experiences, meeting new people and being able to immerse in a countries culture and way of life more than is usually possible as a tourist.
