Hi, my name is Safiya, I’m 19 years old and from Germany. Last year I finished my Abitur and I’m currently taking a gap year before starting my studies in September. During this time I would love to explore new places, meet new people and gain experiences outside my usual environment.

I would describe myself as a friendly, calm and open-minded person. I’m also a helpful and empathetic person who enjoys connecting with others, listening to different perspectives and creating a positive atmosphere around me. I like meeting new people and experiencing everyday life in different places and cultures.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends, baking (I love trying new recipes for cakes or cookies), and being around animals. I grew up with animals and currently have a dog and a rabbit, so animals are very important to me. I also used to ride horses for many years, which I really loved.

Since this would be my first Workaway experience, it’s all very new and exciting for me. I discovered Workaway while looking for a way to travel, learn new skills and experience local life rather than just being a tourist.

I’m looking forward to meeting new people, gaining new experiences and learning along the way.

I would love to improve my English, especially speaking it more fluently in everyday situations. Although I learned English in school and feel confident with it, I have not had many opportunities to practice it in a real-life environment. Therefore, I would really enjoy using English more in daily conversations and becoming more fluent. I would also be very happy to improve my Spanish. I studied Spanish for six years in school, mainly focusing on writing. I would love to practice speaking more, as I find the language and Spanish culture very interesting and inspiring. In return, I would be happy to help others learn German, as it is my native language.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

My biggest interest is working with animals. I have many years of experience caring for dogs and rabbits, as I have had a dog for seven years and rabbits since I was eight years old. In addition, I have experience with horses, including grooming, riding and handling them. Through this, I have learned responsibility, patience and consistency. I am very comfortable around animals and truly enjoy spending time with them. Whether it is walking dogs, playing, cuddling, grooming, or simply taking care of their daily needs, I would love to support in this area, as it is the type of work I enjoy the most and would be happiest doing.

I also have experience with children and feel comfortable around them. For example, I have helped take care of the younger brother of my best friend and have spent time playing with and supporting him. I am patient, caring and responsible, which helps me work well with children.

At home, I regularly help with housekeeping and cleaning tasks, such as keeping my room tidy and maintaining shared spaces like the kitchen (doing the dishes and helping with general cleanliness). I am used to taking responsibility for everyday household tasks.

Additionally, I have basic experience with social media and could provide support in this area if needed.

One of my personal strengths is that I am a very good listener. I am empathetic, reliable and adaptable, and I enjoy working in a team and creating a positive atmosphere.

In my free time, I enjoy being creative, especially through photography, painting and crafting. I love taking pictures of nature and animals, as it allows me to capture special moments and express myself in a creative way.

I also enjoy spending time outdoors and appreciating nature. Being outside helps me relax and feel balanced.

I am a family-oriented person and enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Playing board games together is something I really like, as it brings people together and creates a positive atmosphere.

I would also be open to working together with other Workawayers, as I really enjoy meeting new people and sharing experiences. I think it can be a great opportunity to learn from each other, exchange ideas and create a positive team atmosphere. However, I am also comfortable working independently.

Overall, I am curious, open to new experiences and always interested in learning more about different cultures and lifestyles.
